Exactly - I just use EO to aid in the buffing after application. Makes it easier and no worries about haze or residue. It does not remove SG. Sorry for the poor word choice...:)

Z6 is my first choice. Follow by Griots SS or EFCP.



Clearkote is nice and all, but oddly it is the ONLY QD that streaks on my black car. I don't have this problem with other QD's I used (These are the ones I've used and still have in possession: Z6, BF, Sonus, Griots SS, EFCP, Eagle One W&S, Crystal Mist, Meguiars Quick Detailer.... hmm I'm sure there's more but can't think of it now). I did follow the correct concerntration and filled the gallon up to where the line is with distilled water.. Weird.... I plan to water it down a bit more and play/experiment a bit.
 
William420-Quikshine can streak slightly if you use too much initially. If you mist it on the paint, it shouldn't streak. I use it on black cars all the time.

Again Scottwax's observations are right on. I have only used QuikShine on black. The reason I love this stuff so much, besides the gloss and deeping of color, is its ease of application ( no streaking, hazing or build-up):xyxthumbs

Just wanted to thank everyone who weighed in with their preferences. There were a lot of products mentioned that I'd either not noticed or forgotten about. I'm trying to resist buying more/different QD's until I use up some of the GALLONS I already have, but your comments make it hard :D



In hindsight, I could've set this up as a poll...

Qd's are like waxes and sealants. There is always a new and improved version and like microfiber towels, you never have enough.:xyxthumbs
 
I just read through this whole thread and can not believe no one mentioned Mothers Showtime?



For "cheap" QDs, it beats Quik Detailer and Final Inspection by a long shot, in my opinion. Goes on perfectly, and doesn't leave a residue.



I used the zymol treat or whatever it is called once.... the white milky stuff, something like 14 bucks for the wee little container. It was my friends, not mine... I'd never spend that much for QD. :D

I have to agree... I used Mom's Showtime last night for the first time and compared it side-by-side with EO WNS and Meg FI. Mothers Showtime was the hands-down best performer. Plus, the spicy smell really perked me up! At $5.00 per bottle, I'm shocked this product has not had better coverage on the forum.

I like the shine you get from Mothers Showtime, but it seems to dry too quickly, especially on warm days. On cool, cloudy days, no problems at all. :nixweiss
 
I like Mother's Showtime a lot, altough like Scottwax said it really dries fast. I noticed this when using Mother's clay kit and for that reason quickly switched to FI while claying.

As QD it works great tough smell can be overwhelming and I rank it at the top of inexpensive QDs right with E1 W-n-S. I'm not a big fan of FI.
 
Woo Hoo, I'm getting some backing from the big boys. :p :D :D



I just have a hard time finding Mothers Showtime at any of the auto stores around me. I had to buy it from a small auto parts store last time, cost me something like $8. :(



I will say however, that was back in November and I am still on the same bottle. The stuff goes a very long way, and it seems to work with zymol wax very well.

I will agree with you there. When I was at shows last year with my GTI, I found the mothers did dry quickly while out in the sun. However, I found the same to happen with Megs QD and FI. :confused: What product of choice, Scott?



However, most of the time that I applied it, I was in my garage and it worked perfectly, not a streak left behind after just one wipe. :up

It does not attract any more dust than Clear Pearl and makes the paint look wet, deep and liquidy. :xyxthumbs

I am so glad to hear you say that! I just recieved my order of Crystal Mist, and will be using it on MY black BMW this weekend!

This will replacing the #34 FI that I had been using.
 
I just picked up a bottle of Black Magic's new Spray Detailer at Wal-Mart, and it's a pretty nice QD for less than $4.50/bottle. It's got a great smell and doesn't smear. It'll be interesting to see how well it does on warm paint in the Florida summer in a few months. I also like QuickShine from ClearKote.

I'll vouch for that, too! (But right now, my paint looks "liquidy" because my car is sitting out in the sleet/rain...sigh... :(

Clearkote's Quikshine works in the sun. Obviously, on 100 degree days at straight up noon, you have to work small areas, but in the shade on 100 degree days, it works fine. It seems to stay wet for longer than most other QDs I've used.

I was going to say, I find that all QD sprays dry quickly in the hot sun. When I QD in the sun, I always shoot a few shots in my towel first to keep it a bit damp. Seems to work best for me.
 
Being such a newbie on this board, I was kinda scared to mention that I used Mother's Showtime QD exclusively... all you guys seem to be using QD's that are 3x as expensive.



Anyway, I like it the best out of the things you can get from a local auto store. At $5, it doesn't break the piggy bank either.



And the smell... ahhhh! :xyxthumbs
