FINISH KARE #1 New Car Glaze is a new one to me. Don't see it on their web site. Thanks

Clearkote RMG, Meguiars #81, Optimum Finish, 3M Ultrafina and Werkstat Carnauba Prime are all excellent final polish/glazes.

I don't think so. I'd call a finishing polish a fine polish that removes the finest swirls and marring from any previous polishing steps, leading to a perfectly smooth LSP ready surface.

I'd call a glaze something that does no polishing and simply fills any fine scratches or swirls, hiding them all, and adding gloss, wetness, and/or depth to the finish.

Hi Mike,

The #1 is the brother of 300 and 303 as they share the same chemical backbone. AFAIK it's in Finish Kare's regular range, although it is not available via the FK1 sales channel.

I got my sample from Malaysia, and it's terrific stuff. I haven't tried the 300 Hand Glaze, so I can't compare the two.

Basically it behaves like a true LSP. It cures similarly long like other FK LSPs, and gains definition on the next 2-3 days. Its initial slickness is not bad, but after a day it changes completely and becomes very slick. I don't know its targeted protection level but I can imagine it as a standalone LSP (never tested its durability though), or as a gloss enhancer on top of other - mostly synthetic/blend - waxes and sealants.

I read here that some glazes get wiped away from some LSPs. Im planning on using RMG then topping it with 476s, from my understanding I wont have any problems, but I just wanna verify that I wont be taking off the glaze with the 476s. Can someone verify for me?

I apply 476 over glazes quite often. I just use minimal pressure and straight lines during application. Just be as gentle as you can when laying down the 476 and you should be fine.

Why is this Finish Kare #1 glaze so elusive? Sounds interesting, especially if it fills.

I wonder if PPCL and Wolfgang Paintwork Enhancer are considered a glaze or a cleaner. It kinda sounds like it does both but that's a bit odd that a glaze is also a cleaner.

Chemical Guyz EZ Creme Glaze - I use this step after polishing to prep the paint for protection. Has cleaners.

Danase Wet Glaze - Use this step before protection, and after if needed. Can be layered and contains no cleaners.

Red Machine Glaze - darkens the paint a little and adds nice pop. Hides defects to a decent degree as well.

It depends, IMO. Optimum Finish and Ultrafina both have a bit more cut than a traditional glaze (which has very little) but also have that deep rich look that a true glaze has. After using either, I see no real advantage to also using a glaze.

BH Auto Balm falls between categories, but I consider it as a sealant glaze, as it protects well and hides imperfections better than any glaze.
