Favorite Finishing polish

Hyper Polish seems to be getting a lot of mentions. It is not discussed that much any more.

Plenty of good finishing polishes out there and it's hard to go wrong with any of them. These are all in my currently used arsenal.

Griots Correct and Perfecting Creams: Both solid contenders that cut well and have always finished perfectly for me with no dusting. Correct Cream is typically what I'll use unless it's a softer clear that marrs easily or is prone to DA haze. They smell awesome too! On some paints they can require more effort to remove then others.

HD Polish+: Very easy to use, good cut, easy wipe off, dusting seems to be gone with the new version. Don't care for the smell though as it has a hint of Adapt to it now.

Hyper Polish: Great polish that finished very well on virtually all paints I've used it on with no dusting. I used this a lot more before Opt Primer came out for coating jobs, but don't use it much now days having dropped OC. I have been meaning to try the latest version though as I hear the wipe off has improved. I felt the older stuff require a little more effort to remove than some others, but it was on par with the Griot's creams and didn't really bother me.

M205: Still one of the best polishes out there IMO but it can require an adjustment in technique to finish down perfectly on some paints. It's also still one of the easiest polishes for wipe off and with little to no dusting. Can be used for heavy correction too. ;)

if you had to pick only 1. which one would it be? or maybe your top 2

I bought Menzerna FP4500 because I was disappointed with optical clarity of M205. Same paint, pad and pc7424. For me, there's no comparison, 4500 is that much "shinier", but not for use as 1 step correction.

Photos of your results required. ..lol

Eons of time ago before all the great goodies we all have now corn starch was used and gives great results. In fact many products may use corn starch...I believe some of the Meg's products used it, maybe #3 and/or #7.

Mist your final panel down with some water while using a super soft pad, maybe a 100 ppi pad. Leave your final polish on the paint and just switch to a clean 100ppi pad mist some water and continue. See if you like the results. Use a clean dedicated towel to remove, don't rush it, just go at a slow steady speed, keep the panel cool to warm.

Of course, YMMV

YES !!!!

Used a lot of this in the 80's -90's to finish off acrylic lacquer/enamel paint jobs..
Thanks for bringing those memories back !
Do they still sell it in that yellow box ?

yellow box, and yellow small plastic container

Hey, Anthony! Good to see you posting :D

We used to *add* cornstarch to M03/M07 back in the day, but those Pure Polishes didn't have it in them to start with. The combo *did* make for a swell Finishing Polish back in the days of single stage, but I wouldn't use it these days.

That's my experience. It's the "go to" when you want the maximum gloss, but it's part of a larger regimen of correction.

One could also add variables like.

- best for noob on PC or Griots
- best on flex
- best on rotary

When HD Polish, Meguairs M205, MENZERNA SF4000, and CarPro Reflect arent working Optimum Hyper Polish always bails me out. It is a very under appreciated polish.

I'm gonna give the Hyper polish a try as well. I watched a two part intro to it with Mike Phillips.
This might be a perfect polish to try with my rotary to minimize splatter.
