Fashion 2010: What the well-dressed kar washer is wearing

I’ve had a pair of old car washing boots forever and the material has been falling apart over the past year or so due to age. No big deal, they’re probably 15 years old. I’ve been scouting around for a while trying to find a replacement and stumbled across this PRO LINE brand. I guess they’re known for hunting apparel, etc and found them at Bass Pro Shop. My local store had very little inventory on hand and nothing in my size. I ended placing an on-line order thru Bass Pro since shipping was only $5. The boots were $17 and they seem like a true bargain at that price - I could not find anything else even close in pricing.

The souls have a nice tread on them so them grip well in the snow and ice. They have no insulation whatsoever so warm socks are needed. The sole doesn’t not have much support and is more flexible than I care for. However, I don’t see that being a major issue. I washed a couple of cars this weekend and am liking my bargains boots a lot!

I wear a pair of those when I'm shoveling sheep crap out of the barn, or feeding the sheep in the pasture during spring/summer/fall (when I'm home that is)

Do you find it keeps your feet warm during the cold days?

edit:

wow just re-read the post, never mind....warm socks are a must :)

Thanks Tom ! :P)

They don't, this style of boot tends to be nothing more than the thin rubber layer. However, for car washing in the driveway, etc., they're perfect and keep you dry.

I was out cutting some firewood on Saturday and the FEDX showed up with them and I put them on. My feet were already cold from being outside and they got so cold after 1/2hr that I had to go back inside to warm up and get some real socks on. I don't have any vision of using these boots out in the snow unless it's just a quick 5 minute thing..the boots pull on easily. Easier than the pair I just threw away.

I envy you guys who can wear "regular" width footwear, must make it easy to find such stuff.

I didn't look, but suspect it's a standard width only on these. However, I find them very roomy and perhaps a tad on the large size. (There are no half sizes on these and I normally would go 10.5 on the size.)

hmm, perhaps what we did in the Army would work, 2 pairs of socks and between them those feet/hand warmers that last like 6 - 12 hours and you'd be good to go to detail in the snow :)

Those boots seem great at keeping water away from your feet, but they will be really hot in the warmer months and, as you said, not very effective in keeping your feet warm in the cold.

I wear a beat up pair of Timberland boots with waterproofer applied, they get a bit sticky in the summer but they manage to keep my feet dry (plus they hold up to direct hits from the pressure washer).

Yeah, that's what I figured; I take a "B" width and need an especially narrow heel fit on the right one. So it's Bean Maine Hunting Shoes for me, just got a new pair in 12". At least they still sell narrow ones...
