Long day to say the least. I started out with the F 150, which hadn't seen a detailer as long as I have known these fine folks. About 3 years now! Ive only washed it a few times, but never taken a PC to it. Well today it met its match. BF paint wash (old formula), Optimum Medium grade grey clay, 1Z PP, an Orange pad, UPP with a grey pad, diluted Smart Dressing for tires, DG All Wheel Cleaner for wheels.

Next up, the Toureg, and some of the most beautiful paint I have ever had the pleasure of working on. Washed with BF paint wash (a real old formula), DG All Wheel Cleaner for the wheels, Sonus Ultra Light Clay, diluted Smart dressing for tires. DG 105 with a green pad for the paint. Interior leather treated with DG Leather conditioner.

And finally, what was to have just been a wash, ended up getting detailed. The rear deck was suffering from some water etching, so I broke out some Optimum Compound with a green pad. The used DG 105 over everything except the PPF on the front hood, and fron of the 1/4 panels. The owner was a little disturbed when I showed them the same etching under the PPF! I sealed that up with AW. Duragloss All Wheel Cleaner for the spokes, One Grand ERV for the tires. Beautiful twin turbo, and a very pleasing color. No befores as it was originaly destined for just a wash, and I forgot, plus I was a little pooped....lol

But here is a beautiful car for sure!

Great work on all of them, especially the swirl removal on that truck. :up

Oddly enough, I did an exterior detail on a 335 sedan this afternoon as well. The paint was like a freaking rock, how about the one you did?

Cleaned up fairly easy to tell the truth Scott......I dont think the etching was that old, so I got about 90% of it out under the situation and time. It was scheduled for just a wash, and the owners never even knew the etching existed, but she said "get em off"! I didnt have a lot of time for the Bimmer to begin with, total time on it was about 1.5 hrs. And 1/3 of that was conditioning the leather which is beautiful in this 2-door, but was about as dry a leather as I have ever seen! The paint of the Toureg IMO was of higher quality. The Bimmer had a fair amount of OP, to my surprise.

Nice work pat.

I really like the BMW.

All BMW leather looks a little dry. I hope you didn't make it look like a glazed donut!

Keep up the good work. BTW why is your help siting down in that one picture?

He should be folding towels or something lol.

Damn fine work Patrick; man you must have been beat.

Scott, dude... these cars vary like no other model I've dealt with. I've detailing ~15 or so of them now and the difference in paint hardness from color to color is unbelievable. Mine (Sparkling Graphite) is hard as hell; like...really hard. Some of the jet blacks were so soft it was freakish... it's weird.

Ya. they have a buttload of OP. Are you sure the leather wasn't "leatherette"? It's like a slightly harder, dryer version of the leather they use.

Excellent. How do you like the duragloss wheel cleaner?

Danny, its a very good wheel cleaner. Its by no means a spray on wipe off product. It does take some attrition to release stubborn brake dust, all in all, Im very happy using it.

Keep up the good work. BTW why is your help siting down in that one picture?
Ron, thats my oldest son who is stil nursing his broken Fibula. Hes off crutches and was nice enough to come with me (No arm twisting at all, wonderful 19 yr old son) for support and a little assistance (Where he could) He removed polishes and sealant mostly, and was my "Golden" retriever.

Picus, the leather was genuine. (I think!) If it was fake leather, I commend BMW. They could teach domestic automakers a thing or two. It was nicer then some real leather Ive seen in domestics before! (If it was pleather/leatherette) These folks spare nada. It was very reminiscent of some upper end Porsche leather, really fine fine leather. The leather in the Toureg is Italian leather. By far the most elegant leather yet in my book.

Good work. That Touareg turned out great!

Patrick, very nice work on all.

7 hours for all three? You are "the machine"

Azen, GM, thanks, and if it wasnt for my son assisting, tack on another couple hours. He is realy an auto buff, he loves german engineering. He hopes to be in automotive design and engineering in the future. Really bright young man, and has a way with math, which is essential. I wish I could get my 16 yr old to come out with me.

You should ask the owner if he got the premium package; if not it's leatherette. I honestly (I mean this 100%) couldn't tell you the difference if I didn't know what to look for.

Nice to have your son to go with you; what do you have him do? Just about anything?

I cant get him to polish! LOL.

He worked on tire dressing, vacuuming, product removal, as well as just being my retriever (get me this, get me that) If I could only get him to do windows, I'd be a happy man!

Im almost certain they opted for the premium interior package. I should have taken pics dangit. They even asked if I wanted interior shots, I guess I should have. I would really be blown away if I found out its not genuine leather. You would think with a 335i, it would be? It had a beautiful feel and aroma, and sucked up the conditioner like nothing else. It really reminded me of the upper end leather on Porsches.

Patrick,

19! I thought you were a young guy say 30? I figured I was one of the older people here at 40. My oldest is only 13. He likes to help me at the shop sometimes as long as I pay him. It usually turns into good quality time.

Ron we have a good time no matter where/what were doing! He even told me yesterday that he wasnt coming along to do me any favors, he "just wanted to spend some time with me"......Im blessed. The 16 yr old boy is a little more stubborn, and then theres my 13 yr old princess also........Shes gone on several details with me!

Ron, I guess Im part of the older (Elite I prefer, lol) group I reckon, Im a whoppin 45....(3/16)

Haha, I need someone to do windows too. :D

My 335i doesn't have leather. I opted for the leatherette since I detail out of the car and it could survive a nuclear bomb. :) You're probably right though, the Dakota leather in the 3-series is nice. I love that new BMW smell too. :woot2:
