Extractor Shampoos

I need a new job
Hey everyone, just wondering what the extractor users here are using for shampoo. I think the only designated extractor shampoo I have seen is from Chemical Guys. Can you use a diluted APC, or stick with a shampoo compatible with extractors? I understand the need for a use of a de-foamer when using these chemicals.
 
I am using a low foaming carpet shampoo, and no de-foamer is needed in the recover tank. When I worked at a local shop a few years ago they only used a APC,the only thing I found was when the carpets dried they had a wierd feeling to them. The owner never used a de-foamer, but it sure would have helped to have also used a de-foamer with the number of shampoos he was doing before empting the tank. Sometime foam would come out of the top of the lid. The only advantage I could see for using an APC is the cost would be alot cheaper for the APC than an carpet shampoo
 
I see Folex is a popular upholstery and carpet cleaning solution but has anyone used it in an extractor? It should work just as well, if not probably better, in an extractor than by hand. The nice thing is that it is available by the gallon at Home Depot.

That brings up an interesting point Bill, I love folex as a spotter. Maybe I'll pick up a gallon @ lowes (home depot in my area doesn't carry gallon sizes). I just wonder what the dilution would be to keep it as effective?
 
A diluted degreaser or APC will work just fine. I use special cleaner from auto magic. Spray all the fabric and carpets down with it, work the bad spots with a brush and extract.

Regarding Folex via carpet cleaning machines, here's the instructions:

1) For machines with a draw tube: put the tube directly into full strength Folex

2)For machines with mixing tanks: mix 1 part Folex with 4 to 6 parts warm water( no defoamer necessary :) )

I don't know about the current product Now, but years ago it was carried by Sam's Club. I used it regularly, and found it worked on any number of surfaces and situations very well as advertised. When they (or Sam's) removed the product from local distribution, I moved on. Not due to product performance, just convenience.

If anyone decides to give the product a try, I would be interested in hearing how it performs.
