Expedition owners

Im considering purchasing my friends 2000 Expedition, with 3 kids, the 2000 Taurus is way too small. The SUV has 87,000 miles on it, has some small battle scars which i can erase with proper products, all in all, its in pretty good shape, hes a maintenance whore so I know its well taken care of, all synthetic oils and fluids, Bilsteins all around (if only he had taken care of exterior and interior the same way!)

My question is directed at you current owners of said model, are you a happy camper ??!! Oh on that note, it has the 5.4 l., and I will be towing a 25ft Terry Lite trailer with it. Any towing issues ?

Patrick,

87,000 miles on a truck is nothing, but what you need to check is the recent Ford truck recall that involves their cruise control module and its causing electrical fires and complete vehicle, home and garage losses. This repair will be free but Ford first must design and produce a replacement part. Present remedy is to have a Ford dealership disconnect (disable) the cruise control module.

Understand the need for more space. I recently pick-up an Escalade to replace my Escort wagon as a daily driver.:xyxthumbs

My brother loves his, and I have a customer who is on her third. A couple points from a detailing prospective. The leather steering wheel is a real sore spot. The color coating rubs off very easily. The black trim at the base of the side window is garbage. Be ready to apply VM or Moose Wax to them weekly to keep them looking good.

BTW, my brother regularly tows his wife's horse trailer with it. They did have an issue with the rear end though. I'm fixin' to go over to his house, I'll see specifically what the problem was and if there have been others.

Ed, thats quite a step "up" !!!!!!!

Patrick, an Expedition isn't exactly a bunny hop. :D

The Z28 convertible is almost retired (only logged about 300 miles last year) and I wanted something more powerful and roomier as a daily driver. I also got a deal I could not pass up in a carefree color for a daily driver (white). Completely stock and no bling bling additives. I sold my last truck (Jeep) in 98 and missed it dearly over the last few years. Felt like something was missing without a truck.

I had excellent luck and dependability with my Escort (98) so except for the matter I mentioned earlier you too may have a deal that will be difficult to pass up. :up

My sister has had a couple which she really likes and they have been good cars. My wife has a Tahoe which I like better, it's a little shorter and is quicker. However, I think the Expedition is a better family car, especially with the third seat. For the wife and I the extra space isn't needed, it's just us and a golden retriever.

i drove my friends for a while and it got 20 mpg on the hwy not too bad for a 5.4. I dont like the seats theyre ugly but other than that its not a bad vehicle. Plenty of room for the kids and the supplies, dont know about the wife though :)
