My exhaust tips are getting discolored a light copper color.I have used serveral metal polishes to no avail.I have not seen this happen before,What can I use to get rid of this discoloration??I believe the tips are chrome or stainless, but not sure.
You can get blue tint off of chrome with a good metal polish. A gold tint is not uncommon on stainless steel and unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it.
I could be wrong here but if its discoloration of the metal that is not going to polish off. I've seen this on a lot of pipes and no matter what I did nothing got rid of it.
It seems quite common on motorcycle pipes.
However what others have said here might help or take it off its worth a try, also you might try 0000 steel wool as well.
I find that a blueish or goldish color makes it look cool. It's like your car is a race car. Can't you just picture your daily driver blasting down the Mulsane straight at 200 MPH with a 2-foot long plume of fire coming out of your exhaust tip, it's awesome. If you look at fart cans, you'll see that they tint the ends blue to acheive the same effect.
