Excel Detail wash mitts, same as the eurow?

I was looking at picking up some new lambswool wash mitts, and came across the ones that Excel Detail sells.

Mitts

Now by looking at the images listed on their site, these look almost exaclty the same as the eurow mitts sold in stores right down to the elastic cuff. The eurows are ok, but I'd like to find something of better quality. So I don't want to make the mistake of ordering the same mitts that I could buy locally, without having to pay shipping. Has anyone tried the Excel Detail mitts, and could tell me if they are the same?

I've also been looking at the mitt Griot's sells. For those that have used it, how does it compare to others out there? I like the fact that it's slightly larger, and looks a lot more plush.

I'm looking to buy some really nice mitts, not el cheapo quality. Any input on opinions would be greatly appreciated.

They are Eurow mitts but you won't find them as nice as Patrick has. I have used his Med plush ones for a while now and I'm very happy with them. I also have a heavy wash mitt and it is very very plush. You can find some nice ones at the store but you have to sit there and pick through all of them. If you have time go for it, but you are guaranteed to get a soft plush mitt from excel.

I just looked at the price of the Groits mitt do yourself and your wallet a favor pm Pat and see if his Heavy mitts are in. He doesn't list them as "in stock" as they go out of stock fast (hard to keep them stock) but if you ask he'll let you know.

I've been comparing them to the Turtle Wax mitts at Big Lots as well. The cuff is the same. The loop to hand the mitt is the same. The cuff is the same. I don't really know how to scientifically compare the actual wool, but they feel and behave the same.

Just look through, and find a plush one. They are easy to differentiate from the thinner ones. The thick ones feel like they are still on the sheep!

The Griot's mitt is a different type of wool, "more fluffy" and less like "fur" or "hair", if that makes any sense :o Some people really like 'em, but I worry about [stuff] getting trapped in the nap and not coming out in the rinse. Note that my fears might be *completely* unfounded :nixweiss

Mine is just sitting here waiting for me to use it...and it's *been* sitting here unused for a long, long time.

I picked up the 3 for $15 mitts from Pat over a year ago. I am still using the first one and I average about 1 wash a week on the car. The mitts are great and they put the mitts that I've seen at Wal-Mart to shame!

How do the medium mitts compare to the heavy? Since those are the next plushest available. Are they still thicker and softer than the ones I could find in the store?

Sorry I'm a new guy here---can anyone give me a little more information on "Patrick". Who is he and how do you get a hold of him?????

just click on the "Mitts" link in the first post of this thread:nervous:

The Griot's sheepskin mitt is very different from the Eurow-type mitts. As Accumulator points out, the wool is different. It has a more fibrous texture. However, perhaps counter-intuitively, I've never noticed any deficit in its ability to release dirt in rinse water. It's pricey, but very well-crafted. It has a substantial heft to it when loaded up with sudsy water, but is also very soft. I've also never noticed a bigger difference in feel when dry vs. wet than with the Griot's mitt. It's additionally one of the few detailing products I have, besides Victoria Wax, that's made in Canada (for whatever that's worth).

For the price, the Excel mitts are great, but if all else were equal and I had to choose, I'd go with Griot's...(as my second choice after....seasponges!) :)

I just snapped a few pics using a penny to gauge the thickness between the two. I also hope you can see the different type of furr between the two. The med (all though soft) are not as velvety soft as the heavy. The Heavy mitts just have this velvet feel to it, while the med are just soft and more springy then the heavy. You can't go wrong with either.

I tried to bury both penny's as far as possible to show as much depth as possible. I love both and would absolutely love to get my hands on a Ultra Heavy, I'd probably need a quarter for that one lol.

BTW the mitts pictured are 100% new and never used and kept in the plastic bag they come in. It's been around 7/8 months since I purchased the 3 pack plus a heavy mitt. Well lets just say I still have 2 new med and 1 new heavy waiting for the fist one to give up the ghost.
