EX-P after #80 and #7?

I am planning on giving the car a really good clean this weekend.

And am planning on using:

  • Megs NXT Car Wash

  • Followed by Megs Clay System

  • Using a PC do Megs Speed Glaze #80 using the Megs Polishing Pad W8006

  • followed by Megs Show Car Glaze #7 using a Megs Finishing Pad W9006

  • Then two layers of Souveran Pwith the Megs Finishing Pad W9006, spit shining for the second layer.

What im wondering is, ive heard you need to quick detail the car after polishing with the Megs Pads, as they sometimes leave fabric and bits, is this correct?

And also would it be beneficial if i added a layer of Poorboys EX-P after the #7 to seal it?

Cheers

Andrew

Not sure about the Meg's pads, never used them. Sorry.

You may have bonding issues using EX-P over a glaze. Sealants usually need a clean surface free of oils and fillers to bond properly. I've never used #7 but I have used EX-P extensively and while it's very easy to use and not finicky at all, it needs a clean surface for application.

You can QD with a pure cleaning QD (S&W, #34, etc) after polishing if you wish, but I usually have no trouble removing all the residue with a good MF towel which should also leave no lint, etc. In other words, I don't usually need to QD after polishing.

I would also be concerned about proper bonding of a sealant over any glaze. It might give a certain "look" but it could compromise durability.

I would suggest VM instead of the #7 as I have had good results with that combination and it's much less finicky than #7 and never had a problem with EX P topping VM. :buffing:

Ahhh okay, sounds like i will leave out the EX-P then.

I was also thinking as i wax the car every week that i wouldnt really nedd a sealent, is that right?

If you are going to wax every week, then no, you aren't going to need a sealant. Make sure you always wash your car before applying another coat of carnauba or you can get a hazy look after several coats.

Put something over #7. It's just a glaze (Megs calls it a pure polish) and offers no protection. It will also wear off rather quickly. On the Meguiar's forum, some combos are #7 - #21 - #26 and #7 - #16
