Ever seen better beading than this??

So like the title inquires, have you ever seen beading better than this?? I mean, take a close look at the beading here and you'll see what I'm talking about. Some of the normal-sized beads are almost round! Also, take into consideration that this is the hood of Truck Norris (my detail wagon) and it's wrapped in 3D carbon fiber vinyl! IOW, it's beading like that on a "bumpy" surface! Furthermore, this is only the first coat... they say that this sealant really locks things up with the 2nd coat...

I wanted to dampen my MF after removing this stuff because it left slight traces of itself on the carbon fiber, but this is what I got when I applied some water to it :). This stuff doesn't like water at all!

Sorry guys, I know you're probably itching to know what it is that's making water bead that tightly but I have to be a teasing little koont right now because this sealant is still in the development stages which means it isn't quite ready for the market yet, but all will be reveled in good time. If this isn't even the final version of this I can't wait to test the final version!!
 
Very nice. I've been using some stuff that creates similar water globes. I'm not saying anything either. But I really like your picture Jesse!
 
Such spectacular contact angles, aka superhydrophobic water behavior works in nature on microscopically rough surfaces (see Lotus leaves).



Super- or ultrahydrophobic coatings work nicely on totally flat surfaces too, but their durability is too short to make them useful for automotive applications.

The Doctor has spoken :D! Thanks buddy! Yeah, but the cracks and grooves in my carbon fiber are huge in comparison to those of a lotus. I'm testing it on the Punto too. I managed to get 10 wash and drys out of it today before my hands froze. I also used a shampoo that's a bit alkalic and manhandled it a bit while washing and it's still beading the same. I'll keep you updated!

Hi Nikku! Well, according to my MF it's doing quite well on fabric! I coated the wife's car today also, but no pics :(. Will get some soon!

I'm actually just doing some product research, so this is why I posted it. Like I've said, it's a new product and I've never seen beading like that before so I'm curious if anyone else has ;)!

I'm actually just doing some product research, so this is why I posted it. Like I've said, it's a new product and I've never seen beading like that before so I'm curious if anyone else has ;)!
 
Yep, but most coatings (if tuned into the superhydrophobic direction) bead with the same contact angles.



The Japanese can tune their coatings to the superhydrophilic direction too, which would be far more beneficial to all of us (if not spectacular), because there would be NO water spotting.
