ETG Paint Thickness Gauges

Can anyone identify how thick older non clear paint would be? IE:) Classic 60's, 70's cars that have been well kept. How thick is the paint before hitting primer?

Even with today's automated paint shops, there's alot of variation. You can't just say "paint from the 60's and 70's has x thickness". Would be nice if it was that simple, but it's not.

Paul, I have an ETG if you need to borrow it.

I am in the market for a gauge myself and I am still getting educated. Specifically, I am curious about the Pro-Gauge II and why it is 59.95 at Amazon.com. Why such a low price?

That's not an ETG, I believe it is a magnetic gauge. Those are not nearly as accurate as an ETG, that's why it is so cheap.
