I did a complete detail on this '02 Alero. The engine bay was the most dramatic change though!:D

I always Dawn Wash, then Z2/ZFX, Z6, times 2.

(clay if I can convince the customer to do it!)

Engine bay:

Cover alternator and electrical components with plastic.

1. Saturate with Simple Green. (diluted 10 parts water 1 part SG)

2. Rinse with a TRICKLE of water. NOT a hard spray.

3. Saturate in tire dressing.

4. Wipe away excess.

How did it get so dirty? He has never opened the hood!!!!!!

Was that water based tire dressing that you used in the engine compartment?

I use "Hi=Temp Grape Tire Dressing" from CMA. It's solvent based, but they recommend it for engine bays right on the label. "Use in warm or cold engine bay, not hot. Apply liberally to all plastic and rubber surfaces. Keep away from electrical and exhaust components."

Yeah I wonder if EF Black Opal Is flammible I use it in my engine bay all the time i get really nice results. with it. It says it may flash if sprayed on a hot engine. But wouldent that mean that it can also flash when your engines gets hot when your driving.

LUSTER !!!!! HAIL TO THE CHIEF!!!! Great work !!! I always say "engine detailing separates the men from the boys"!!!!!

I think that what impresses people most is when you lift the hood and show them that their engine is clean. Whenever I deliver a car, I save the "under the hood" view for the "Piece de Resistance"....

I detailed a 2002 Tahoe this week... there had to have been a half inch of "dust, dirt and grunge" all over the engine! The owner was so impressed he gave me an extra $20! :spot
