A few shots of the engine bay from my '89 RX-7

Here is the engine in my 626. Stock but it has pretty blue NGK wires. ;) Anyway, I used the degreaser at the local coin-op, rinsed it down and then let the engine run about 20 minutes while I wiped down all the painted surfaces, valve covers, etc.

This is the engine in my old Accord. I used Orange Blast Degreaser to clean it, rinsed then wiped down. I had painted the valve cover about 4-5 years before I took this picture. Used several coats of paint, then baked it for an hour at 250 degrees. I waited a week then sanded down the paint over the lettering to make them stand out.

whoa, nice engine bay pictures.

macgyver - argh! my eyes! i'm blinded! :D

usanepyro - wow, that looks like its fresh off the showroom floor.

scottwax - both engines look nice. the blue wires and red valve cover are nice touches.

Thank you for the positive feedback :D

prez217: It was a full restoration project, since I took the entire car apart I used coatings on the engine, engine accessories, basically everything that's in the engine bay that would make it easy to detail.

I used a combination of powder paint and ceramic coat on everything in the bay, so a simple degreaser solution, an engine bay mitt, and a toothbrush will pretty much handle all the cleaning needs, then some Mothers polish and a little dressing finish it off nicely.

GSRstilez:

Naturally Aspirated 13B rotary engine

Streetported with every conceiveable oil, cooling, and performance mod available

HKS intake w/ custom tube fabbed from an aftermarket '97 Integra intake (nobody makes one for a second generation RX-7)

Ceramic coated; intake manifold, rotor housings, pulley's, alternator case, brake calipers, dust shields

Full Racing Beat dual exhaust; header, presilencer, etc.

I could literally fill an entire page so i'll cut it short but I didn't cut any corners at all on this project, it was a genuine labor of love. By no means is it a race car, just something to put the top down on and cruise out to the coast.

Here's a shot of the car outside my home

Damn that's waaayy too bright of a picture to look at @ 0700 hours, you could have just shown us a pic of the sun in a mirror :xyxthumbs

I really like those model RX-7's. the car is in very nice shape, i could see you maintain it. there are only a few afforable cars that i really like, i currently own a 94 integra, but i like RX-7's, nice body shape, nice color, very comforable, fast, (in your case)very fast. i heard that some had electrical problems, is this true?

It really depends on the car, the '86-'92 all have the same body style, this meaning that even the newest 2nd generation RX-7 is still 12 years old. Sadly, for enthusiasts, most of them are not maintained and become extremely unreliable, and Mazda has ceased making parts so they are quickly becoming expensive to bring back to life.

More engine bay pics, keep them coming:xyxthumbs

Excellent work! I had a 93 Maxima , my Mom has it now temporarily before she gets her new car and I still continue to keep it including the engine immaculate :up At the base of the exhaust manifold I just shot some high temp aluminum colored paint on it, did that a long time ago and it still is holding up!
