okay here it goes.. everytime i use my LC light cutting orange pad.. with any compound with my PC.. after a few passes.. i look at my pad and it has this huge lump in the middle of the pad where i apply the compound.. does anyone know why this lump keeps appearing? it makes the pad all wobbaly.. ahh!!

I've had this happen to me using the Lake and Country 6.5" pads, try to put a dot in the middle, and spread the product out evenly among the pad, MAKE SURE to keep your pad lubricated, I tend to use the XMT pad conditioner a lot more when using OC than OP just to keep my pad moist and fluent...

You are probably using too much product. When I polish with my Cyclo, I put a dime size drop on each pad. It will not start to load up until more than half the car is polished.

John, I think it's better just to put the subject of the thread in the subject. That way you will get more help. Putting stuff like "What should I do?", "HELP!?!?!?", and stuff like that probably isn't the best way to get help :p

Yes, about the lump. It's probably better to spread the polish in a circle or an "X" on the pad, so the product isn't completely concentrated in one spot. Sure, it spreads out, but the blob in the middle probably won't spread all the way out.

I also think you may be using too much. When I first started using the PC I got a bit of clumping also, so I backed off on how much compound I used. I put about 4-5 pea sized dots on the perimeter of the pad. That was with Optimum so other brands may vary.

That's what I was thinking. And yeah, IMO most people use too much product (any product).

I have the same problem with my orange VC pad. The center of the pad gets puffy like all of the polish/compound has migrated there causing the foam to expand.

When using something like SSR2.5, I usually start with a thin ring about an inch from the edge to prime, then go to using 4 small blobs on the perimeter.

I didn't think I was using too much product, but will try and cut back to see what happens. I just thought that the design of the pad tends to pull the product toward the middle and the puffy center was 'normal'.
