einszett polish

Well, a polisher will make the job much easier, but I have had EXCELLENT RESULTS by hand (with a cotton terry applicator) as well. If you don't mind the time it takes, or the sore muscles the next day, you don't NEED a polisher.

Yeah, the last time I got fingernail scratches behind the S8's door handle ( :angry ) I took 'em out by hand. I would suggest doing the last passes with foam or MF though, as cotton can be a bit aggressive for the final polishing (same reason it's good for the rough stuff). Generally, *unless you REALLY need a rotary*, you can do it by hand if you're up to it. 1z polishes are great for by-hand.

Accumulator,

Got get those clear static cling or 3m Scotchcal door cup guards. They're a godsend on my A4! :bow :xyxthumbs

Yes, a final pass with a foam pad would be the ideal combo.

Bill D- Can't use the plastic stuff as the driver's door was reshot (part of blending) after the deer incident (there's a disclaimer about their use on repainted areas and I'm not gonna risk any more paintwork on that thing). The real solution here is to get the new S8 when it comes out ;) When you're talking about the level at which I kept/try to keep that car, once it's been worked on like that it's just not gonna be the same. Heh heh, I oughta just drive the wheels off it, considering the hit I'll take when I let it go, but I'm just *so* used to pampering it :o
