AHHHHHHH my friend has a black WS6 trans am and works for a pontiac dealer. The detailing guys there told him to grab the rotary and some 3M compound to get the swirls out of his hood. So he did. When he left he said it looked good. But lastnight under a light in a parking lot it looked horrible! Actually kinda cool looking but my god his entire hood is hologramed to H#LL and back.

My question is.... Will SSR2.5 with a PC and blue propel pad take this out? I ordered the green and yellow pad yesterday but he wants me to help him tonight. I have never dealt with holograms before. I also have 3M swirl remover for dark cars. I dunno what to do. Any suggestions?

I got holograms out of a friends black car with a meguiars W-8000 finishing pad and Menzerna Final Polish II on a rotary@ 1500 rpm. Any remaining traces were removed with a PC and FPII.

So your saying the SSR2.5 and blue pad should work fine then?

SSR2.5 is pretty aggressive, try the lesser polish if you have any first. IF that doesnt remove the hologramming then step up to the SSR2.5. Always try the least aggressive method first.

I didnt have anything less aggressive so I used the SSR2.5 and propel blue pad and it took everything out. I then topped it with Reflections and his eyes about poped out of his head. I am glad it turned out so well. This SSR2.5 is amazing polish and reflections on a black car is veryyyyyy nice looking!

3M SMR will only hide the holograms at best. It will not completely remove them. You may need to grab Megs #80 or 1ZPP with polishing pad to completely remove all the holograms. I used to have horible experience with rotary. It's good to remove deep defects. But I am less experience with rotary and PC comes in handy..

Good luck

BlackCLS01- Glad to hear you got them out. When I first saw the title of this thread I was worried that the holograms were on *your* car!

3M FCRC will do a great job of this. Start with a polishing pad and only use the cutting pad if necessary. The cutting pad will leave micro marring which WILL come out, you'll just need to step down to a polishing pad and a less aggressive polish to do it.

The white pad and 3M FCRC is a combo that really is hard to beat. Its perfect.
