EDGE Red & Orange Foam Pads??

I was on Autogeek's website and came accross 2 EDGE foam pad colors I've never seen before - Red & Orange. Here's the descriptions:



Red LSP DuraFoam Pad

The red pad is softer than the white pad, which makes it perfect for new car finishes. Apply last step products, like waxes, sealants and glazes without fear of abrasion. The red pad also makes layering products easier. Apply multiple coats of your favorite wax or sealant with the red lsp foam pad, only from Autogeek.



Orange Light Cutting Pad

This pad is highly versatile, as it can be used on cars with light to moderate swirls and imperfections. We recommend you begin with this pad if you are unsure how deep swirls are, moving up to a Green Medium Cut Pad if necessary. Safe on clear coats.



What's strange is that these pads aren't mentioned anywhere on EDGE's website. Did they just come out? Has anyone tried them yet?
 
There's usually a lot of confusion on this, especially with the orange. I believe that the red is special made for AG and is the finest finishing pad. From what I understand between going back between forums and posts is that the orange is a different kind of foam that is stiffer. Therefore, looking at some posts directly from Edge, they say the orange is the most aggressive, more than the yellow. I think in order from most aggressive, it's orange, yellow, green, blue, white, red.

On a side note, I think some of the AG descriptions are off.
 
I have the orange foam in the 6" DA version and it is very stiff. They say it has less cut than the green but it seems like the other way around, as the orange seems to cut more. I only used Edge on rotary, not DA machine.



I found the orange to be very effective removing heavy oxidation on a car with SS paint, but I usually don't use it very often.
 
Orange is the most aggressive pad for the edge system and red is supposivly specificaly made for AG as stated above and the description is correct it is strictly for wax application
 
Seems there is always some confusion like this...wasn't it said for a while that with the original Propel pads, that the orange was more aggressive than the yellow...but then it was said that the pores were smaller on the orange, but it was stiffer, so it would cut more...unless you massaged it to soften it up....and also with the original Propel there was confusion for a while whether the blue or the green was more aggressive...I think the foams have different properties, vary from lot-to-lot, and people use them for different things and get different results because different paints are different.
