Edge 2k 6in DA pad?

Tex Star Detail

Formerly TexasTB
I have all the 6 inch pads for the PC. I got a couple of them used. Is the BLUE pad suposed to be VERY soft? As in, when using it, it goes flat? Seems like a sponge to me....

yes very very soft..

Really? Hrm... all of my Edge 2k pads are fairly stiff. It would take a lot of pressure to get them to conform to any kind of curve. So I always end up having to work the machine at various angles around curves, rather than being able to get the pad into them.

I just watched a bunch of the videos that have been made lately (haven't been real active on the forum in 6 months or so), and it seems like the velcro-backed pads that those people are using are very soft and flexible.

Are my Edge pads supposed to be the same way? Or are they supposed to be stiff like they are?

When we first introduced the DA pads we used our DuraFoam for all the colored textures. We found that the blue and white which are polishing pads for glazing and waxing were too stiff and did not produce enough shine. We then began using our regular polishing foams for the blue and white but keep the yellow and green which are cutting and buffing pads in the durafoam. I hope this helps. The older stiff blue and white still work fine but don't produce as high a gloss especially on dark colors as the softer pads we make them in now do.

I purchased a white pad not more than a month and a half ago, and is stiff like the cutting pads. When did you switch these 2 to the polishing foam for the blue and white?
Also, I oicked up an orange pad from another member here, but do not see it on your website. Any reason for that? Such as discontinued? Wasn't too sure.

ANYONE?

Sorry for the delayed repy Texas. Someone called with the exact same question and I thought it must be you so I did not reply to your question. We switched to the soft white and blue about 8 months ago but some distributors still have older inventory. If you want the softer ones just send them back to me at the address below and I will replace them with the softer versions. As for the Orange it was made in response to a European demand and we don't fully advertise that we make it but it is available from both Autogeek and Detail City. Its kind of a medium to light cutting pad that has some polishing properties as well.

Thanks Aaron! I do have the soft blue one, and stiffer white one. They both work fine, so I will just hold on to them. I cannot afford down time either, But again thank you for the offer and great customer service!!!!!!!!!

Look at this.

A manufacturer who is willing to replace a pad held by an older distributer who got paid for his/her pad and distributed in good faith.

This is not a Walmart world on here.

Yep, good service. I just would send it in, but I need my pads, as I only have one set right now. I don't see a problem with my stiffer white pad either, so I guess it is not that big of a deal.

Thanks again Aaron!

Which was my frustration when I first began using the rotory. I bought it along with the edge pads and found myself with holograms even when using their finishing pads. Upon switching to a different pad the halos went away.

As I mentioned those pads were made for the PC on a DA machine not the rotary. I don't think that our rotary 8 inch pads would leave holos if being used properly.
