I have had good results(polishing glass) with Cerium Oxide, that I got at a Lapidary supply store(gems,rock tumbling...). I mixed the fine powder with a little water, and by hand, buffed out some minor glass imperfections. The powder is fine(low cut), so it takes some work. It's cheap.
