Eagle 1 on sale at Autozone

Stopped by Autozone today(was gonna get that KIT wax, when I finally got it open I found it's less a "paste" wax and more a "goo" wax, but that's another story).



Anyways, they had most Eagle 1 spray products on sale for $4. The QD and spray wax, wheel cleaner, wheel gel, etc. were all $4. I ended up getting the QD and spray wax, and some sort of wheel protection (sounds like it's a wheel sealant, claims to keep your wheels cleaner longer).



They also had a dollar off Turtle Wax F21 products.
 
So how did you find the kit wax?



Recently, For some reason I felt absolutely compelled to buy a can (they seemed so lonely). Just like you, opening the can is a bit of shock, you expect to see a "paste wax" and instead find a "gloopy hand creme wax".





I used it on my dad's car which has a pretty beat up finish and it seemed to do the job well. I'll probably try it on my car, and then post a review.



First impression: It does apply easy and buffs off to a nice shine. Seems to foul up my microfiber polishing cloth something awful, including these neat streaks of grayish schmutz, so I assume that its cleaning action is doing something.

wow. old school right out of 1970. Rain Dance. used it on my boats. i remember it worked well. then i found IW845 in 1973. :think2
 
Well, the kit wax seems to be doing a good job so far, seems to sheet water, and feels nice and smooth. For $5, not a bad purchase.



I think this wax has an interesting chemistry, because it seems like the wax (in cream/paste form) is highly emulsified and water soluble. If it mixes with a little water it will quickly dilute/disolve itself in the water forming an even thiner emulsion.



I discovered this neat ability when I tried to wax over a few water droplets, almost makes me wonder if I could create my own "spray paste wax" :idea:



After the kit wax has hazed and buffed, a few drops of water splashed will make it buff out nicely. It's not water soluble at that point.





There was an old thread on autopia about it, and Alfisti seemed pleased with it.

You ever get around to trying to emulsify this stuff? Could be super useful for large vehicles/RVs/boats
 
Not yet, been too busy with other stuff at the moment. (Plus once you get used to TW Ice liquid, you become far too lazy to use anything else :) )



I may just write to Northern Labs and ask what they think of diluting the kit wax paste with water. So far my experience is that it delivers a nice shine, but that the strong water beading tends to fade pretty quickly. The paste is very easy to apply, just a dab on the applicator and then it spreads out marvelously thin.



BTW: Autozone is having yet another eagle 1 sale, with various E1 spray products 2 for $7.



I may pick up some of the A2Z wheel/tire cleaner, as I'm still having mixed opinions about TW F21 Wheel/tire cleaner. It's certainly not scrub free, so I'm going to try it again this week with a brush to see how it works.
