Dust on car

is there a safe way to remove the fine coat of dust that i get when my car is in the garage for say a week without having to do a full wash?
 
I don't like to qd. I use an air compressor and try to dust it off. But the only way to really get it all off is wash the car or qd it. Or use a california duster but i wouldn't never try something like that.
 
At some point I'd do the full wash even if it *is* just "garage dust". I've marred paint dusting/QDing vehicles that I was *certain* I didn't need to wash..better safe than sorry IMO.
 
I go the QD route with ONR or Prima Slick. If it's more than a very fine layer of dust/polen I do a quick wash.
 
If my car has been recently waxed I just use my California Duster and then follow up with some Quickshine to give it some slickness and enhance the gloss.
 
I sometimes use a MF duster to get rid of dust only and follow up with FK 425. Otherwise, if there's bird poop, bugs or heavy dirt, I'll wash with ONR.
 
i use cal. duster and every 3rd day griots qd.works for me and i have no scratches.mine is outside under the car port.
 
Since dust shows up so well on my black car I find I can do a quick wash with ONR in about 10 minutes and it looks great. (I do this almost daily) My paint would certainly mar if I tried to use just QD on top of the dust and the "dusters" leave a halo look in the bright sun which drives me nuts. Any other color and you'll probably be fine.
 
I've been using a Cali Duster and liberal amounts of QD spray on my black car and find that it DOES cause marring. There is a trade-off, IMO. Only a full wash is truly safe from what I've observed. And I'm sad about it because I love to QD my car frequently!
 
I also use the cal duster and then a QD........as long as the car is not too dusty, I'll do it that way.......or I'll just give her a rinse, dry, then QD.
 
Yeah, I'm never using a Quick Detailer to dust off my car again. I think my clear is either really soft or something, but every time it always puts those light swirls right back in. So I'm just going to put up with the dust.



I've only been using it for those emergency bird bombs where I'd rather have some slight swirls then that crap embedded into the paint.

So then would I be ok to drop by the local pay & spray to just spray it off? I'm about to be applying my new sealant (DG105) and figured that would be the easiest thing since the coats are supposed to be a day apart.

As long as you dry it immediately after washing(as long as it's 100% clean). If you drive it home and then wipe it down (even with QD) you're opening youself up to problems.
 
I have using my Cali Duster followed by Pennacle QD for several years, on my red and black vehicles with fantastic results.



I have not witnessed any marring or swirling as a result.



maybe with certain paints and protective treatments, QD does not work well I am assuming from the folks who have had problems with this.:think:
