duragloss enviroshield

I detailed a friend's 2004 infiniti fx35 on sunday with the new Duragloss Enviroshield Ceramic Coating System
this vehicle was detailed several months ago with some bfwd so the car was in pretty good shape but with some more swirls and surface contamination. sorry my point and shoot doesn't have the ability to show these on the silver paint. I was able to wash, clay, one step polish and coat he vehicle in about six hours with some assistance from the owner.

wash- megs gold class shampoo and conditioner
tires- megs d143 non acid wheel and tire cleaner, megs hot shine tire foam
clay- megs smooth surface clay with griot's speed shine as a lube.
polish- megs swirl-x using lc white pads on a griot's 6" da
pre coat prep- duragloss squeaky clean surface prep by hand
coating- duragloss enviroshield nanoglass ceramic coating by hand

the only other coating system I can compare the enviroshield is opticoat 2.0.

pros- easy to apply, a spray applicator is included with two foam applicator pads(one side of the pad is microfiber coated, the other side just soft foam)
much easier to apply with the spray top compared to oc 2.0's syringe method. flashed faster in the 90 degree heat than oc 2.0.
recoated easily after he first coat. good price point.

cons- I don't like the foam pads included with either oc 2.0 or enviroshield.
both tend to soak up the coatings and just feel cheap. I had better results with my own microfiber pads. I do want to try Optimum Opti Dual Pro Applicator after seeing todd demonstrate it at detail fest, looks like the best option for coating applications to me.
the squeaky clean prep works fine, but I still think a diluted alcohol solution or car pro eraser is faster and easier to use.
the included microfiber towel is very thin and very small.

conclusion- I liked the enviroshield, it was easy to apply, it left a pretty nice, slick finish and the price point is good,. time will tell if the manufacturer stated 2yr durability holds up.:bigups

sorry for the no before shots, had to rush to beat the monsoons that started just when we finished at 3:30pm. pics were taken the next day.

Its amazing how lousy most coating application kits are in terms of those really ridiculous foam application pads...when a nice MF application pad or even a small WW towel works great. I wonder if these chemists ever really apply their products..?..the first time I used OC, I couldn't believe the lousy, cheap, tiny application foam pads as part if their kit.

Glad to hear its easy to apply.

Looks really nice ! I have yet to have a duragloss product let me down. How much total product did it take for the application ?

Did you apply only one coat? I see guys applying 2 coats on AGO. I have this but I hav not gotten around to using it.

Looks great. There was a review on AG. Some folks weren't so thrilled. I am anxious to see updates on your terrific review and job! Car looks great. :)

I agree. I haven't found anything better than a microfiber pad yet.

Great write up Steve, glad to see you got to use the Duragloss enviroshield product! Thank you for doing this one.:bigups

thanks angelo. it's always nice to see how surprised family and friends are when it's done. especially when most never had a real detail before.
