Duragloss AW, I'm impressed!

I finished doing a spruce up job on a 1978 Mercedes 450SEL that is entering a Mercedes show tomorrow at Mercedes USA headquarters.

I've been using AW as a cleanup step post final wax / sealant for a couple months now.

When I pulled the car out of the garage before the cleanup, I was floored by the absolute wet look the car gave off - like it was dipped in salad oil. It totally "matured", looking a million times better over time (it sat untouched in a garage for a couple weeks). It is currently topping a coat of FK #425 spit shined Souveran applied to the original finish.

I simply hosed off the dust with a light soapy mix in the foam gun, air hosed dry and applied another coat of AW.

I'm not one to hype a product or speak about slight nuances or characteristics, but the look totally changed over time.

I can't wait for the results of the show. Total winner!

Godd Luck Splichy...Bring the trophy home....

Yes..I noticed as a few days go by..it gets better....

It has been raining here since early May and the AW is holding up nicely....have not had a chance to do the spring cleaning of the truck...but when weather gets good..I will do the whole truck in the duraGloss line

I just did the hood so far to see if I like it and I do...after it is all done I will top it with Collinite 915 and use AW after the washes...

Good Luck

Al

Seth, That says allot coming from a pro. I keep looking at my Tacoma to the point that my wife thinks I went over the deep end. Time will tell how Duragloss will hold up under the sun and rains of these WV mountains. This truck stays outside all year round. I will post now and then as to how it's holding up between washes and the weather. From what I hear it can take whatever mother nature deals it for a few weeks anyway and that's good enough for me. God I can't wait to grab some AW and top over my Natty's Blue :bow

Surfer, Let us know how that comes out. I'll bet it will knock your eyeballs out, :spot .

If you have any Nappa Auto parts near you they carry the Duragloss products. Mike

Mike...

If you really want to see some shine....try to get the bonding agent #601 then some sealant #111 and thier car wash...

First wash the truck...

put the bonding agent on and DO NOT buff off leave it on...

put a coat of the sealant #111 right over the bonding agent...let it set up awhile...buff off...do this 2 more times for a total of 3 coats..spaced out 24 hours betwwen coats...but no need to use bonding agent again..just the first time...

then use AW as you desire...WOW....it will be a slick shine like you never seen....you will be ready for a monsoon...

Have Fun

Not a pro, just a weekend warrior like most of us, making some quiet cash on the side :hifive:

I've been a long time favorite of spray wax-type products. I own and use them all. AW is my favorite. The EO Nano is great too especially since it has swirl hiding abilities. I'm using now on all the car washes I do. Applies just like a QD.

PS-also used the 751 Rain Repel. It was put over clean windows, including the windshield, so I don't know how it's cleaning ability is. However, it went on very easily and left no streaks at all. I may not get any rain here in Texas until October so I won't be able to report on how well it "repels" for quite some time.

Ill bet you it did streak and you wont notice it until later. The 751 was the first Duragloss product I bought and I remember it consistently streaking and that was why I quit using it. Maybe you'll have better luck then I did with it..

Swirl marks have been eliminated from my vehicle all together. Number one I never use a power buffer and haven't for years. Number two I have a habit of not going in circles except on my first coat of fresh pate wax and then I always give a light coat or two going back and forth instead of circles. I'm no pro but it seems to work and no matter how you look at it there are no swirl marks. Mike

Al-53, Thanks for the tip on the 601 and the 111. Is that over the shelf or do I have to order from someone? Mike

Oh, oh, I hope not. If I notice that I'll toss it forthwith.

shorty..I used the rain repel #751..and had no problems...I use just on the outside windows..I still use IG or NXT on inside....reason being that the rain repellent may cause problems on the inside..just as Rain-x will...even says to use on exterior windows..I just checked

Yea Al, I did not use it on the inside as I don't need to repel anything from within. In fact, I seldom use anything on the inside unless the windows get mared or something spilled on them (if they do, Stoners IG or Sprayway is all I use). A good mf wipe down is all it usually takes. The #751 looks really good. I took the truck out today to get gas and viewed the windshield from every angle and never found a streak. And the Aquawax I put on yesterday looks fantastic.

The more I think about 751, what I think was the problem with it was in a sprinkle after you initially applied it, it streaked. Maybe you'll have different results.

man i just found this weekend, a surplus store had about 8 bottles of #921 Quick shine & Clean for $4.99 a bottle. I picked up 3 but I'm thinking of getting the rest and using it as a S&W replacement. I love S&W and couldn't imagine not having any but I'm running low and it sounds like 921 would work just as well. I'll try it out tomorrow. Alas, no AW but thery had some APC, a leather/ Velour Cleaner (that sounds interesting, anyone know about this?), the fibreglas polish, and a few other products that I can't remember.

Make sure to check out any surplus stores in your area other than BigLots, look in the phone book if you have to. Great stores.

they also had some CD2 Engine Detailer. Snagged 'em.

My daughter came down over the week-end and ask me to take her for a ride in the mountains so she could get some pics with her new Dig camera. We went on the old logging and mining roads and drove in the river beds , mud, briers and tree limbs all day. We stopped on the way back and washer my truck with high pressure soap and a clean water rinse. Then we dried with a sham and a cotton towel. Then we polished it with a soft cloth but no extra wax. Just a hand buff and kept turning the towels. It looks like I just used Duragloss all over again! Beautiful finish with no new scratch marks even after all the crap we went thorough. No need to wax again at all......yet, Mike

Mike.

Glad it is working for you....get some microfiber clothes...and it will help reduce any marring..

Al, I picked up some Micro clothes and they work fine but I'm not convinced that they are better than the soft thick real cotton ones that I have also. No marring the finish with these cotton clothes either. Wish you could see this truck in person. No swirls and no light scratch marks of any kind. Pictures of waxed vehicles do not give you the true colors if you know what I mean. With the right light even a bad job can look good. I like the lookie, touchy, feel thing myself :bigups And I am talking about a wax shine here,Lol. Mike
