Durable AIO 4-way test

I use OS or OCW over it. I mostly use it for the light cleaning effect and the depth it gives.

Ya, my post sort of sounded funny when I re-read it. I don't use poliseal alone, I normally put GD 105 or something over it.

sal, 215 is good with a range of coarser polishing pads to finishing pads. I even used it with wool... I use Poli Seal with very fine pads, as I use it for true finishing/depth enhancing.

A quick update:

FK215: Dead on all horizontal surfaces. No more beading or sheeting, just flat water. Totally disappointed, I wish this stuff could have made it to the 3 month mark. I love the initial looks and the cleaning and polishing power, but I can't keep it around if it doesn't make it two months.

Poliseal: Dead, not surprised as I've used it before and while it looks great, it does not have staying power.

NuFinish: Alive and strong, still looks great.

ZAIO: Alive, strong and still looks great.

If FK215 would have made the 3+ month mark, I would have been happy to re-apply, however it did not make the two month mark. I am going to sub in DG501 for the FK215 and DG101 for the Poliseal area at the next wash.

First off, keep it going, I'm watching this thread with interest. Second, roughly how many washes have you done since the initial application? TIA

Would love to see DG 105 instead of 101 as it is a newer formulation AIO. I've always thought 105 topped with 111(no cleaners) and then AquaWax once a month would make a great combination, but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

I've been getting 6-9 months out of ZAIO topped with ZCS, but Zaino prices are high so switching to DG products as the Zs run out.

4 washes, probably about 5 or 6 rain storms, and no QD/Boosters. The car is parked outside 24x7.

DG105 doesn't seem to be much of an AIO to me, it seems like the cleaners are there to promote bonding. DG101 seems like a 1-1 match for ZAIO, and is rumored to be the same, that is why I am going to try it out and see if it does hold up as well. As far as six months with ZAIO, is that parked outdoors all the time and no boosters?

6-9 months is garaged with no boosters, but for a time during a recent move the car was garaged at night for 4 months and then outside 24/7 for four months. I was surprised at how much it was beading when I finally got to detail it again.

A few months ago I sent an email to Dr Bailey at DG--he stated that 105 has the most cleaning capability, then 101, then 111 which has basically no cleaning capability. Is there an advantage to using 501 vs 105 in your experience??? Thanks!

That's interesting, though the DG guys seem to contradict themselves from what I've read, but on the website it says 101 is a cleaner on the main page, and 105 cleans, but in the description of the actual product, it doesn't say anything about 105 cleaning at all (or on the bottle that I can remember). 501 for me is the strongest cleaner of ZAIO, 101, 105 and 111.

I know what you mean re the contradictions so I went right to the boss, Dr Bailey. According to him 111 = pure sealant rated 1 on cleaning ability, 101 = rated about 4-5 on cleaning ability and

105 = rated about 9-10 on cleaning ability. He also said to use 501 if you need more cleaning ability than 105. Both 101 and 105 mention "cleaner" on the bottle. BTW--Thanks for taking the time to do the test. I'm in the same boat as you in that I don't want to spend hours on end detailing the cars, but want them to look decent and be protected.

Really curious to hear how the Duragloss 501 & 101 hold out in your test-keep us informed.

Great to hear that a cheap OTC product is working out in the NuFinish.

I slapped together some photos of some tests and to me DG101 had a slight edge over DG105.

I put ZAIO on the Crown Vic just to tide me over until all the mechanical and paint/body work is done. At least the stuff lasts longer than KAIO/etc. Not a bad approach to daily drivers IMO, sorta a modern spin on the cleaner-wax approach (which really can work OK too, if you don't mind redoing it all the time).

I'm guessing ZAIO for the DD?

It does seem like a strong contender, however I'm very hesitant to give a recommendation based on a few months use on a single car. I will say it looks better and beads better and longer than any other AIO I have used for this length of time.

Any additional updates?

Yes, I know it is snow season

How about adding opti-seal and HD poxy to the next test batch? :P

At the last wash (touchless), ZAIO and NuFinish were still beading well. I put a spray on wax on the FK215 and Optiseal areas as they were dead. As far as Poxy or Opti-seal, I'm familiar with their (short) durablity so no point in testing them on this car for now.
