Durable AIO 4-way test

In most cases I use a foam applicator by hand but I have used ZAIO by machine with impressive results.

OK, thanks for responding...I thought I remembered something about your doing that.

good write up.

i have had the zaino aio since it first came out and no matter what pad i use or how much product and preshure i use it leaves a bad resedue

on the paint and it wont come off unless i give it a wipe down with ipl which will take the protection off.

even useing it on a black or red finishing pad varying preshure it syill does it so maybe its defective but i am going to order some poli-seal

and give it a try

What "high end coatings" are you using? And, don't ya mean horizontal surfaces.?

Ooops! Sorry! It's horizontal surfaces. Thnks bud.

High-end coatings that I use - Matrix Micro Coatings Pro's Choice(US) or GZox (Japan)

Just a quick update, washed the car Saturday with Gold Class wash. No QD afterwards. This was the first wash.

Notes:

Zaino - cleanest area of the bunch, but the dirt that was stuck to it, was most firmly stuck on there. Looks the same as after I applied it, best beading of the bunch

FK215 - Well, my prediction was wrong, it still looks fantastic, even after the wash. All the dirt washed of very easily, though it was considerably dirtier than the Zaino side, you could certainly see a difference in both sides of the car.

Poliseal - Worst beading of the bunch, appears to be trying to sheet, looks greatly diminished.

NuFinish - very strong beading, very comparable to Zaino. Still looks the same.

Cool results on the NuFinish. :) Same experience as me re: Poliseal. I really like Poliseal as a decent chemical cleaner/light abrasive and I like how easy it is to use, but I've had little in the way of protection/durability with it.

Not a problem for me as I have never and have no plans to ever use an AIO without topping it with an LSP. When you have sealants available like Opti-Seal that take less than 10 minutes to apply, why not throw some on after the AIO?

Why not use Powerfinish (or other 1 stepper) and get a better surface instead of the AIO if you are doing two steps?

Agreed, though, getting the truth on what is designed to sheet is like looking for a needle in a haystack. There are two products I have ever seen that claimed to sheet, and really, only one bottle, and that was some TW stuff a loooong time ago, in the late 90's. .

I remember that...Autofom, wasn't it?

I recall being way less than impressed with it.

I can't remember if Autofom (with Fomblin-A!!!) was supposed to sheet, but I do remember it looked terrible. The stuff that advertised sheeting might have been a TW product.

Does Powerfinish do chemical cleaning and have some minor abrasives in it? I want both.

No, if that is what you are after, Poorboy's Professional Polish would fit the bill. I have some but have yet to really use it, but its supposed to be a pretty strong cleaner.

Glad seeing 215 get some press.. good cleaning with orange pads, good defect removals, and nice smooth sealant, easy to remove with something like OCW or fk fx100. I use gallon of 215, it my first choice aio

Granted I have a much older bottle of DG101, but in my opinion, its not the same stuff as ZAIO. DG101 looks much wetter than ZAIO.

Scottwax, I have to apologize. I was going from memory when comparing ZAIO to DG101. I grabbed a bottle from my parents house and compared it to ZAIO on the same surface, its identical in smell, consistency, and results. I also compared both to KAIO, wow is KAIO a better cleaner.

Great thread as the test you are doing is exactly what I am looking for.

Next im looking for a dedicated sealant that will do the same as your above test after a multi step compound/polish. Everyone is touting blackfire or Wolfgang 3.0, but i've not used either! :) But alas, that is another thread.

I use OS or OCW over it. I mostly use it for the light cleaning effect and the depth it gives.

No, Autofom was a bluecoral product, and I don't remember it saying anything about sheeting. It didn't bead very well though, or last very long.

I remember the turtle wax product that claimed to sheet, it was in a blue bottle with a white twist cap though I can't remember the name, had some sort of 3m ingredient in it I think. I might have the bottle still sitting in my parents home right now. I never did think it really sheeted all that well, it still beaded like other car waxes though maybe it released water a little better.

Oh man, if you could post the name of the stuff, I used to love it back in the day, for some reason it filled in swirls really well on a black 96 GTI I had.

Very nice review, I like fk 215 it has minor correction, good cleaning, nice looks and is pretty durable. Med d151 has great correction, good cleaning, ok durability and ok looks. Not sure if you would call it an AIO but DG 501 cleans awesome, looks great and great durability but very minor if any correction. I used Poli Seal once, liked how easy it is to use, looks great but did not see the correction I was hoping for.

Bence or others that use AIO and rotary, what pads and speeds do you prefer? I was under the impression that AIO and rotary would be easy to leave holograms behind.
