Dupli Color Shield - Temporary Car Bra?

I tried searching, but didn't find any topics on it.



Has anyone hear of the product in the title? Apparently Dupli-Color has a spray on car bra to protect from bug splatter and rock chips and such. They say it washes off with either a pressure washer, or a little soapy water, but is resistant enough to withstand rains.



I was curious if anyone had heard of it, or something like it.

My friend was telling me about this last week. I've never heard of it before him.



It seems OK for temporary uses (long trips, etc.), but I'd prefer something a little more permanent. The fact that it comes off with soap and water makes it less then ideal for most Autopians as we like to wash our cars :grinno:
 
True Johnny, and it seems like quite a bit of work to put it on (with all the taping off and such). But I thought it would be a slick idea for car trips. Something you could spray on. Not worry about bugs and rocks and such, and then wash off when you get home. Unlike a normal car bra, where it will rub, and flap and such.



Althought I'm not quite sure about the smoke'd color the guy uses in the video...
 
I bought a can of the clear and tried it on a small portion of my bumper. It didn't dry clear, kind of milky and splotchy. Not very impressive, needless to say I didn't go forward with spraying the entire bumper to road test it.
 
If it does what it's intended to do I could care less about the appearance of it. I'd rather look at a well preserved front end than to have it covered in bugs, chips, etc. Then again, I don't do a whole lot of road trips, but I've been thinking about picking up a can of it.
 
Sounds like a great idea in Florida at the wrong time of year. Anyone who's been around Florida during bug mating season knows what I mean. What are those flies called?
 
I was thinking about this stuff last night. It seems like a perfect solution to protect the paint on the fenders and such when you have to take your car to the mechanic and you know someone's going to be leaning under the hood.
 
I was going to use it before my 6 hour drive to Michigan's U.P. and just didn't get around to it. Next time I will though because the UP is nothing but back roads and for some reason I think every flying bug up there hangs out in the road. LOL

You noticed that too? I was up in the UP a few weeks ago, and the front bumper looked like a war zone. Took about half an hour to get all the bugs off when I got home.

Yeah, I was horrible! I honestly don't know how people keep their cars cleaned up there! A 3 minute trip down the road to the local hardware or grocery store would warrant a cleaning! LOL But, I would trade living up there for down where I am any day of the week.

I know the feeling. I used to live in Sterling Heights and then my family moved "up north." I like it, but I miss somethings too. A pretty good tradeoff IMO though.
