duck tape residue on trim and paint

Last week, my power window regulator broke and the window wouldn't stay up. Not being garaged and out of town, I had to use duck tape on the outside of the window to keep the window up and keep the neighborhood cats from using my back seat as a litter box.

Well, I came back and as expected, there's left over glue from the tape that's hardened in the 100 degree weather. I cleaned things up as best I can with a good wash and arm power, but the black trim is a real pain.

I've read people using peanut butter, ligher fluid, rubbing alcohol, and vinegar to get off bumper stickers and wax residue, but I'm not sure about hardened duck tape. Does anyone have any tips that will remove this junk without loosening the trim or discoloring it or hurting the paint? I've thought about Googone, but I know this will loosen the trim.

Anyway, any tips are appreciated.

3M Adhesive and Tar remover,...

Yeah, this stuff is a must-have IMO. Just *so* useful! I have a can in the shop, a can in the basement, probably even more around here somewhere.

Other, similar products I wouldn't be without are Goo-Gone/Dissolve-It and PrepSol.

I never like using WD40 for this as it's too messy for me. You use the WD40 to clean something off and then you have to clean off the WD40.

thanks. I was afraid gas or wd30 would hurt the color of the black trim.

ducks, be afraid, be very afraid...

I use AIO on the Duct tape from putting For Sale signs on my jeep they were on there for a few months so the tape really feel apart. AIO worked great witha plastic razor on the glass and just aio on the rubber did the trick
