well one of my mates asked for a drop of polish for his ducati

so i said to him instead of me giving you some polish i`ll do it for you



washed with megs nxt

clayed the pannels

meg`s #83 with the cyclo

meg`s #7 with the cyclo

then spit shine with instantwax and natty`s blue

carbonfibre was treated to the XXX hardcore wax and came up very well

wheels got some rim wax

My dream bike is the new Desmosedici RR, basically a street version of the Ducati MotoGP bike. I have Italian tastes, unfortunately a Honda budget :D

haha. i have an italian budget myself but not a desmoRR budget. but a few years back i was allowed to take the second 999r in the country for a short spin. :D still like my aprilia better.

Awesome bike too. I have a customer with one but I haven't detailed it yet, although I have detailed his custom chopper-which was pretty cool.
 
Sweet bike, nice job. My questions are (because things look a bit ambiguous):



Did you polish the plastics/fairings with the rotary?





Did you claybar the plastics/fairings?



I ask these simply b/c I have to detail a GSXR 750 soon...any suggestions on cleaning a bike would be great.

I wouldn't use the rotary on the plastic fairings. Other than that detailing a bike is not that much different than a car, just smaller and tighter spaces. I use my PC with small 4" pads for swirl/defect removal, otherwise I generally do things by hand.

you can treat it as normal paint. i've gotten out some pretty scratchy paint from various motorcycles of mine and friends. however, i don't know if i'd use a rotary on a motorcycle. there are just too many curves and interior angles. i can't see how you could use a rotary on a motorcycle without burning the paint somewhere. and orbital could be used no problem. also, remember when it comes to polishing bikes, more often than not the decals are on top of the top coat (clear nor no clear). so don't get all buff happy and burn a decal. :)

i would never use the rotary on the plastics as you would put to much heat into the plastics and you could easly blister the paint



so i used the cyclo



and yes the paint work was clayed
