Drying towel care

I did a quick ONR wash today with a WW for first pass drying and a regular MF towel for the second pass. That left me with two used towels and nothing else to wash them with. It seems like such a waste to put these two towels through a wash and dry cycle by themselves, so I was wondering what everyone else does.



Is it okay to let the towels air dry and use them again? Or do you guys have several drying towels and wash them all together after several car washes? There is no visible dirt on either towel, though that probably doesn't matter much.
 
I'll rinse them off then air dry. I have a plastic bucket I throw the dirty towels in and when I get enough I presoak them in a bucket of hot water and detergent for a while to remove the bulk of contaminates then in the washer they go.



I always line dry them....
 
I'm not sure I'd recommend that anybody else do this, but I just let 'em lie around until I have enough for a full washer-load. Yep, they just sit there with QD residue and whatever else gets on them. Sounds downright irresponsible, huh? But no problems...



But no, I don't reused them before they get laundered, at least not on anything I care about.
 
My drying towels go in with my MF towels, wash mitt, and everything else into the washer once a week when I finish the cars. I use whatever detergent we have for washing clothes. They go into the dryer afterwards with no fabric softener.



I've been doing this for 10 years with no problems.

I do the same. Not only that but since I have so many MF towels it could be months before I do a wash and I won't run out of towels in the mean time. Once washed in hot water and Dawn they work good as new.
 
I usually wait until I have at least a few dirty towels and then I throw some Chemical Guys Microfiber Wash in the washer along with them. That stuff works very well I might add!



I also do not put my towels in the dryer because I've found that sometimes pieces of fuzz from previous stuff in the dryer get embedded in the towels.

....its probably not feasible for some to go this route in the begining but I have quite a few towels for various tasks (i.e. multiple drying towels, multiple glass towels, mutiple paint towels, multiple "general use" towels, etc.). I toss soiled ones into plastic, enclosed crates (paint, drying and glass go in their own container) and wash them when I have a full load and/or when my clean supply begins to run low.
 
Thanks for the advice. I've air-dried my used towels and placed them in a plastic bag for now. I'll wash them once I've accumulated enough to make a decent sized load of laundry. Using the latest coupon code, I also ordered four of the Big Blue III's for about $10 each shipped. It sounded like a good deal and I hope they don't disappoint.

You won't be disappointed with the Big Blue, they're as nice a WW as I've ever used. I would caution about storing MFs in a sealed plastic bag. The least bit of moisture could result in mildew or other nasties. I stuff my dry, used towels in a plastic bag until wash day but it's always open.
