Drying my microfibers

Now that I have most of my stuff, I am ready to start detailing some cars. I have a question regarding my towels though.

I have quite a few towels now and I need to know if it's okay to just put them in the dryer after I wash. I know alot of you guys hang dry them, but the problem is that I have like 50+ and that's a little difficult to find places to hang dry these things.

I would really like to know what the problem with putting them in the dryer is?? The towels don't state anything about machine drying.:nixweiss

Mircro fiber towels are exactly that...towels with micro-fine fibers. These tiny fibers can't handle the high heat of a dryer, the ends melt and they lose their ability to 'grab' & trap particles.

One suggestion would be to use the "Air Dry-No Heat" or "Low Heat/Perm Press" setting on your dryer

...air dry. Some machine dry on a very low setting, that's what I usually do. Have had no problems.

:bow MF rules!!

Low dry until damp, then hang 'em....but 50 ?!?!!? you're gonna need quite a rack.

I put all my MF in the dryer on low heat. This has not harmed them in any way. In fact I find the towels come out softer and fluffy compared to hang drying.

I've dried them on high heat before also and haven't seen any degredation. I think MF towels are tougher than people think ;)

I dry my mf towels in the dryer until the dirt jumps out of them. :D

Just kidding...I actually put them in the dryer on low heat and right before they are completely dry I take them out and hang dry.

~One mans opinion / observation~

Air dry if possible or you can dry Microfiber cloths in any dryer on low heat, just be sure that the dryer does not dry at temperatures above 235 degrees F as Microfiber will melt if heated.

~Hope this helps~

Me too, it doesn't take very long for them to dry.

That's from the tumbling action of the dryer "working the stiffness" out of the fabric.
