Drying MF Towels?

Beemerboy

Just One More Coat
I always hang my towels on a rack to dry but in the winter they take to long in some cases...anyone running there MFT in the dryer? I know you should use no heat or real low....just wondering who is doing this and any advice that you can give me about it...thanks

I run all of them on low heat for 20 minutes (damp dry) and then hang them up for the rest of the time. Beforehand the dryer gets a wipedown from an old walmart MF (the cheap one) so as to pick up any lint.

I dry mine in the dryer all the time. Just clean the lint trap first and make sure no stray dryer sheets are in there. Dryer sheets will cause the microfibers to streak.

Mine get thrown in the washing machine and washed with whatever liquid laundry detergent my wife is using at the time. No bleach, no fabric softeners.

From there, they go into the dryer with whatever clothes my wife is drying at the time. No softener sheets, regular heat, fully dried.

That process seems to work for me with the nearest thing to a problem being static electricity in the MF's once in a while when first removed from the dryer.

I have a few of the 6.5 sq. ft. Wal*mart MF's, several Meguiar's, Pak Shak, Premium Auto Care, Poorboy's, Excel, mostly terry, but a few WW.

I use the dryer a lot as of late. Used to just line dry them. That was when I used two MF towesl do QD my truck. Now I use a lot more than that. Now if I even think that a towels is dirty I throw it in the basket. When the basket is full it is washed with a dedicated soap then dried. I was a litttle resistant at first. Checking each towels as I folded them. Now I am hardened and it seems to be working well for me.

Same here, I'll wash mine with whatever I happen to be using that week for clothes, and then put them in the dryer after a wipe down. I do use low heat. I have'nt seen a problem or any damage to the MF. The static can be aggravating after a few loads.

Thanks all I've always been parnoid about using the dryer but I'm going to dry mine this afternoon so that I can fold them up and put away....again thanks

Wow I thought I was the only one who does it this way. Everytime my wife washes them I always remind her not to use fabric softner in the dryer with them.

As with most of the guys here I wash and dry them like normal clothes without of course any dryer sheets or fabric softener. Someone mentioned Static that is the worst part about it. They seem to creat a good amount of it.

What I've read about MFT is that you want to keep heat away from them as it can melt the mesh ( for lack of better terms) together messing up the towel

Don't get them close to your avatar.:)

Some of mine are over 3 years old and it hasn't been a problem for me.

I'll throw them in the dryer as well, but to (try to) avoid the dreaded stitic cling, I don't fully dry them in there and they go on the clothes rack to finish off.
