drying after a wash

what do you guys use for drying and getting the majority of the water off your car after a wash? I use the california water blade to get the majority of the water off then use 100% cotton towels to completely dry the car. after using the waterblade i notice long vertical swirl marks, so i want to try a different method of drying, but what is the best towel, thanks...
 
rinse the car and then let the water sheet off the panels. (no pressure).

Then use one or two wafle weave towels to dry the car. Then use 2-3 MF towels with a quick detailer like 425 or simmilar.

I've been thinking of this for a little bit. Is air drying a viable option?

I mean driving the car to air dry it.
 
Final rinse w/out nozzle to sheet water off.

Metro blower to remove water from crevices, etc.

Finish with WW MF towel (one for paint, one small one for door sills/under hood and another for wheels.
 
go to your local kragen and pick up the gold Viking Microfiber Drying Towel, it retails for around $10.99 and it's the best drying towel i've ever used. i favor it over my ww's, because it's [SIZE=4[SIZE=6]]softer[/SIZE][/SIZE] and big enough to soak up all the water without wringing it once. :bigups
 
go to your local kragen and pick up the gold 6 sq. foot Viking Microfiber Drying Towel (better quality than the large vroom and microtex microfiber drying towels, imo), it retails for around $10.99 and it's the best drying towel i've ever used. i favor it over my ww's, because it's alot softer and it's big enough to soak up all the water without wringing it once. :bigups

My steps are

Spray Einszett raindance or Sonus Detail spritz onto panel

Dry with pakshak waffle weave

Then do the same on rest of the car



Saves QD'ing afterwards and cuts drying time



I've found crystal glo drying towels while conducting research last night and wondering if anybody has used this american brand of acrylic wash, bike polish etc

Blow off most of the water with the AirWand, then use a WW to get the rest. Then blow out the nooks and crannies with double filtered air from the compressor.



There are different softnesses of WWs, my good cars only get touched with the gray ones from MicroFiberTech.



I wouldn't air dry. Even if you rinsed with distilled water (to avoid deposits/film from whatever's in your water) the water that runs out of nooks and crannies is often contaminated with dirt/salt/etc.
 
I sheet the water off with the hose (minus nozzle) and then follow with an Excel Monterey WW. After that, I'll grab a 2nd Monterey WW and walk around looking for any streaks or beads that I missed.
 
Wash

Rinse twice

Blow out with Leaf Blower (compressed air in certain areas)

Use a WW + Waterless wash



If I have time, I will often throw on a coat of OCW...

I have a Griot's MF towel (kids got it for me for Christmas--thanks, son and daughter--they like cars), and a couple of the Megs WW towels.



That takes care of my vehicle. But, I know that I will need some more, to take care of a few other vehicles I promised to work on, as spring is on the doorstep.



I noticed that the "gray" WW towels from microfibertech are now blue.



Am I wrong, or is it a change in product? Or am I just stupid after watching NCAA hoops?

HiJack a little here........Do you think a longer hose would work? My wand is easy on a Civic...can be a challenge on a C/K 2500.
 
3Dog- I dunno. I have kinda short arms so they're probably the limiting factor for *me*. I end up doing the minivan from both sides anyhow (hence my need for two work platforms).



Hey, Moe- Call Ian at MicroFiberTech and ask him. He's a nice, helpful guy and he knows all about the softness difference I was referring to (not one of those guys who says "hey, *all* my WWs are perfectly soft!", he knows the gray(?) ones are softer).



truzoom- I wiped my CWB after every stroke, and with my wash regimen I was confident that I had all the dirt off and would never mar anything. Guess what :rolleyes: yep, but at least it wasn't on the S8 or one of the other "good" vehicles. Now it's nothing-but-glass for my CWB, learned my lesson the hard way. That's what prompted me to get the AirWand, which I'd previously dismissed as a silly waste of money.
