Don't Understand This Sign...

it is amazing how often i see people in the right lane that do not yield or change lanes for merging traffic...and it's the law (at least here) that merging traffic has the right of way on the highway. always causes backups. grrr.

What state? I'd like to see the vehicle code on that one!

Here's an example of the typical rules (from Michigan).

7) When a vehicle approaches the intersection of a highway from an intersecting highway or street which is intended to be, and is constructed as, a merging highway or street, and is plainly marked at the intersection with appropriate merge signs, the vehicle shall yield right of way to a vehicle so close as to constitute an immediate hazard on the highway about to be entered and shall adjust its speed so as to enable it to merge safely with the through traffic.

:werd: They are also foul weather friends. During hellacious rainstorms, I would get behind a truck and it would shield me from the rain so I could see where I was going.

Just be carfull becouse an 18 wheeler will stop faster in the rain than the avarage car. The weight they have on their tires help them to stop in these conditions. Just remember that in a rain storm to always leave your self an exit.

I see that on side that is not happy with a sign nobody is considering possibility that sign has not been put up by driver but by his employer or by driver that drove that truck before him.

Truck drivers are usually the most courteous on the road. Probably since they drive for a living, and it can be dangerous. I usually stay out of the way of rigs as much as possible anyway, just to keep rocks from kicking up into my car.

I disagree, they are probably the biggest dicks on the road...those loafing 18 wheelers can't maintain speed up a hill, then going down the hill they're all over your azz. All those hillbilly's care about is delivering their load on time. Ever see those maniacs drive in a snow storm?
