About 6 weeks ago I polished with Jescar medium on both (only clayed the hoods)put jescar powerlock on the Tundra and FK1000 on the Highlander. 1 week ago put 2nd coat on both so time will tell. Trying to compare apples to apples (both Toyota paint). The biggest difference is going to be the miles on them. Tundra will have more miles put on it. Both are kept out of sun and rain when parked at home. After 2nd coat tundra felt slicker but now the slickness feels the same on both. The FK just has a waxier feel. May the best LSP win!

That’s not going to happen. That is a good point though. The only degrading factors will be the sun, acidic rain and whatever would get on the paint when we’re away from home. I’m kinda like you ( check entire vehicle out when returning home) wipe off with megs qd. So actually this test will only give me longevity results. That’s the only test those vehicles will get
 
To all that still use waxes and sealants and applicator pads do you use a foam only pad or microfiber over foam and why
 
Foam for LSPs almost exclusively, but I doubt that it really matters. I`ll use an old MF when LSPing wheels but basically never on the body proper. And I don`t blame you for not testing the etching resistance ;)

Heh heh...whatever I have handy. Just the "generic yellow foam wax applicators", don`t even remember where I bought `em last. Oh, I do have a set of red ones from AG that must`ve been a freebie with some order. I just don`t have a preference, never really did; just a case of not looking for new ways to fix what isn`t broken but since YMMV maybe *you* will be more discerning :D

This is been an absolutely great sponge applicator for many things..

Just perfect for TuffShine ClearCoat, but also works great for applying Coatings, Sealants, everything..

For example, if you put a piece of plastic over it, then put the small, orange, CarPro suede applicator over that plastic, you can apply an expensive coating, etc., and never have to worry about how much you wasted to absorption... The edges all around it help you get into places more precisely, so there is no extra work to get something off that doesn`t belong there..

It is a great size for your hand, does not absorb easily so it won`t soak up your valuable stuff (and then what do you do with it ?), does not deflect easily, does not allow you to waste your valuable material easily, and can be washed out and used again.. It does not break down like all yellow foam pads do eventually..

Everytime I place an order, I always add a few of these, for back up..

I`m still using most of the yellow applicators I had when we moved into this house in `00. How quickly do yours break down? (I figure any big diff is the Pro/non-Pro factor.)
 
Putting the liquid on with the GG6 is much easier and faster. The foam pad takes a lot of elbow grease. But if it lasts longer I will use it instead of the powerlock. I guess all those yellow and blue microfiber/foam pads are all pretty much the same. Use them until the microfiber gets stretched and buy some new ones. I use a soft black 5 1/2 lc pad to apply the powerlock. When I clean the black pad with dawn that stuff will not completely come out. Next time I will try some apc. No problem cleaning the fk1000 off the microfiber pad with dawn
 
I hear you on cleaning the pads. Once I use Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant with a pad, it`s a WGDGPS pad for life. Same with 845.
