Does your stomach churn whenever you go to the pressure wash?

When my headlights and tail lights are dirty, I use the squeegue! I be careful not to scratch the paint. I figure its a small price to pay for safety. Lights working at 100% luminousity (sp) are very important.

I will sometimes use the high pressure wash to get the dust off and then quickly jump on the freeway to dry off. This is only to get light dust or dirt off and extend the time between washes. If the car is really dirty I will do the same and then quickly drive it home(2-3 min) and give it a good detail job. This is to get rid of the heavy dirt so that I don't grind it in when washing. The distance is close enough that the car hasn't really started to dry and no water spots form. This is ok isn't it?

Thanks, Bill

This is a reason I dont want to buy a used car. I dont trust how it was taken care of. [/B]

:p LOL.....I was thinking this EXACTLY!!!!

Really though, it is kind of like a trade you have to learn....not everyone can be good at something if they were taught to do it one way, and never have read anything about it. I can tell you right now that I was (my dad still is) the kind of person that would go to the spray wash and hose down the car with that high pressure corrosion eliminator!!! Then maybe brush it down....I did always prefer hand washing though, because it always seemed to come out better and look much better afterwards.......HMMMMMMM:p

Some real shocking stories there guys.

I never go to those self serve bays as my pressure machine, chamois and new soft cloth is all i need.

Because i have the Bodyguard protection on i can only wash with water. But when i use my pressure washer i always keep the gun moving as if you leave it in one spot, within seconds the paint will be chipped off.

Here is my process, takes 2 to 3 hours

Pressure water rinse.

Clean headlights, bumper bars, wheels and tires with omikron super gloss wash. No need for wheel cleaners.

Using special bug removing sponge i remove insect crap and bugs from front windscreen.

Rinse off wash and re wet the car

Chamois dry the vehicle

Another rinse and then dry with new cotton cloth

Remove door seals from top and bottom of doors and remove water and dirt (bath towel)

Polish glass, wheels and tyres (meguiars natural shine vinyl is brilliant for tyres but i don't recommend it for dashboards)

Spray Omikron RD Black on wheel arches.

1 application of Fast Wax

Lubricate door and window seals. Rust prevent the underside of bonnet and boot, car seats with tectyl protectant (polarised modified wax)

I came out of my house a few years ago duing the dead of winter. I saw the next door neighbor's 16 yr old kid scraping the ice off his windshield with one of those long ice scrapers with a brush on the end. I was warming my car up, I hear these loud noises, looked over and he was scraping ice off the middle of the hood. He was scraping it good and hard too.

I got out of my car and told him that might be bad on his brand new Accord's paint. He said "oh yeah, I guess it is."

I still cringe when think of it.

Holy moly. What a moron.

Thank goodness we don't get those weather conditions in australia.

:nono :shocked :doh
