Does this car have a CLEAR COAT?

Hey guys whats up? My friend is intrested in getting his car fully detailed (wash, clay, polish, wax, etc) from my friend. He is a little confused about the clear coat on his car or not on his car.

Many people have debated that his car has a clear coat and some people say it doesn't. Im almost positive it does.

The car is a 2000 Acura Integra Type-R Phoenix Yellow. It's not your everday integra. The paint code is "Y56". Anyone have any idea? Im pretty sure you can just check by applying polish and seeing if the rag turns black or not. Atleast that is what i did on my rims.

Here is the debate:

Can anyone give me the proper answer to tell him?

According to paintscratch.com, that color, along with my GSR's frost white and the type R's championship white do not use clearcoats.

I also see that two other members from this board already chimed in about this.

GSRStilez and VDog0531.

My white integra paint is hard as hell, and that is supposed to be a characteristic of white single stages. I have done some reading on this recently, and apparently the yellow subaru wrx and white forester have no clear, as well as black lexuses.

From Meguiars...

"An easy way to tell whether you have clear coat paint is to look at your applicator when applying a surface prep or wax. If you see the color of your car on your applicator, you do not have a clear coat."

And he told me "when i wax, the cloth turns yellowish"

But does anyone have a definite answer?

I believe you sorry hehe...

OK FINAL VERDICT:

No CLEAR COAT!

Thanks...So what are the cons of not having a clear coat? And what do you differently when detailing a car without a clear coat?

LOL GSRstilez, I didn't even realize you we're on that team integra forum... I love your car, and I really liked that post how you showed the car from stock to what it is today.

I detailed a co-worker's 2000 Phoenix Yellow Type-R a few months ago. Definately no clearcoat, but it really polished up nice. I love that color.
