I have not noticed much improvement of surface gloss when following #9 with #7 glaze, but there is a minute amount. #9 2.0 already has lots of fillers, but not quite as much as #7. There is still use for #7...occasionally I'll put a layer between my wax layers just to get some more depth. Again it doesn't seem to help much. However, if you somehow get swirl free, then #7 would get priority over #9 of course.
I would probably take the $10 and get something else you've been wanting to try.
