Does Frozen Water Hurt Finish?

I just picked up my new car and left it outside during a snow and freezing rain storm.

Now the car is completely covered in ice like it's in the middle of an ice cube.

It's not supposed to get to 30 degrees for 3 more days.

Is it ok to just let it sit outside and melt on its own?

Will this hurt anything or damage the paint?

I would assume not since all the cars set outside on the dealers lots.

Thanks!

No but don't go and pick at the ice or else it can cause damage. I would bring the car in the garage if you have one.

frozen water does it's damage when it's not allow to expand...I have 7 copper pipes on my kitchen table to prove it :(

I'm from Pittsburgh. We got about 8" of snow, then the freezing rain hit.

The doors are all froze shut, so rather than messing with that and pulling it in, I guess I'll wait for it to soften up on Saturday.

You can pour a little hot water into the cracks around the door to open it (NOT boiling water, just warm water and don't pour it on the glass!) and you can even put the car into neutral to roll it into the garage if that's possible-- that way you won't have to turn on the engine.
