does edge adapter fit the UDM

in their newsletter they sent out a 15% discount so i called them up and it applied to buffers too! Well then i will be the first to try out edge and UDM haha ill report back it wont be here for about two weeks... anyone interested in a like new PC haha



i do remember david saying that he was putting the new edge to rigourous test on the UDM when it was still in the testing phase. I could be wrong ill try and dig up the post.

David did do the testing and gave his stamp of approval but that was on a preproduction model. I have the production model and have tested it alot. The pads and adapter work fine, but the vibrations above speed 4 are more than on the PC. Since the UDM has more power and torque I think that speed 4 with the Edge pads will work fine and not be too much vibrations but as far as the system attaching, working, and lasting we have not seen any problems, only additional vibrations that don't feel too good when holding the handle. I have experimented with holding just my palm on the head of the machine and even at higher speeds the vibrations are bearable.

Hmmm...I have tested the Edge 2000 pads on the UDM, and I wouldn't use them on the machine as is. The vibration IS more than the pad that comes with the machine significantly. Just to give you an idea, when on a speed of 6, with the UDM my voice chatters when I speak. With the PC I do not get this. But, with the white pad and UDM, the machine is very smooth and comfy. You decide.

If I were you, I would just wait until the new counterweight arrives.

Yes, friction breaks down the compound/polish, heat is just a by-product of 2 surfaces working against each other.

Coupe is 1000 percent correct on his assessment. Heat is an unwanted by produce of rotary buffing. Polish breaks down because of the mechanical action forced on it. The mechanical action in turns produces the unwanted by produce of heat.



Ideally we could use some type of released dry ice that would keep the tempature of the surface at an even 78 degrees. Polishes will looked better (generally) when a rotary is used because they break down much more even and do a better job of sanding out the marks the are leaving behind as they break down uniformally.
