does edge adapter fit the UDM

As the title states...im thinking about purchasing one but im a huge fan of the edge 2000 system and wanna know if it fits..



also if i place an order for UDM now does anyone know how long it usually takes to recieve it?

It fits, but is not recommended until a counterweight is manufactured. I have the Edge system as well.



You can order a UDM now if you would like. Your location depends on how long to receive - shipping.
 
thanks! any idea how long until that counter weight is availble i really wanna pick up one of these machines but refuse to let go of my edge pads hahaha
 
Elitemobile...I believe two months. I am impatiently waiting as well as the UDM does not like it when the Edge 2000 system is used.

Please explain your thoughts on using wool pads, with the PC/UDM and/or the rotary. I'll be honest, I am not 100% satisfied with my polishing at time since sometimes I cannot come away to a 100% swirl free finish every time on some cars. I feel my technique is good, so now I am questioning whether my pads are the cause.

Are you only useing wool?



I wouldnt use wool on a PC.

Please explan yourself once again! I used wool once, and that was because I needed something with more cut, my rotary was not working properly at the time either. The wool pad certainly helped give me more cut then the most aggressive foam pad that I had. From your responses and your signature, you seem to be a big fan of wool, and I would like to know why. Many say wool pads create additional swirls and so forth, so I would like to know your explaination for going with wool instead of foam.
 
Well i dont have to explain myself to anyone but i will give some reasoning to why i use wool......again.



I use wool for correction ONLY (rotary of course).



Wool runs much much much cooler than foam cutting pads

Wool is way way way easier to control than foam cutting pads

Wool corrects much faster than foam cutting pads

Wool leaves less holograms and micro-marring than foam cutting pads

Wool does not need to be worked for very long, its very quick

Wool is safer than foam cutting pads, obviously becuase they run cooler, easier to control and dosent need to be worked long.



I only use edge wool becuase they have different cuts unlike other company's who's wool are ussually extremely aggressive and dont make any wool in different cuts (ie: 3M and Megs ect).



I use foam polishing/finishing pads for the finishing step though, i dont use wool to finish.



Becuase of the nature of the PC it wont utilize a wool pad the same way a rotary will. Use wool on both machines and you will see what i mean.

You know, I've always wondered this, maybe you or anyone else has an answer to this as it has always been on my mind: Wool pads do run cooler, and because of this, wouldn't it be unable to break down polish as fast as a foam pad, since heat is needed to break-down polish, and foam pads can become hotter? Also, which Edge wool pads do you like to use? Thanks:up
 
This has gone waaaaaay OT.



I do not believe any compound or polish needs heat to break down, i believe that is a myth.



I use edge yellow and green wool, im getting all of their wools soon.

Maybe, maybe not. I've used HTEC by PC and rotary and the rotary always leaves the better finish. Put your hand on the backing plate of your PC and then rotary (after use) you will feel just how much heat is generated by the rotary. The heat may be a by product of friction but friction breaks down the compound.
 
Yes, friction breaks down the compound/polish, heat is just a by-product of 2 surfaces working against each other.
 
well to try and get this on topic again ahaha.....i just ordered my UDM at a killer price at AG so im hoping they get this counter weight out asap

Is it only the vibration that makes edge an UDM not friendly or will using the adapter actually cause harm to the machine?

That is really very good deal. How/where you got it that cheap?



It is vibration for sure but I think UDM + Edge still remains to be field tested before rest of your question can be answered with 100% certainty.
 
in their newsletter they sent out a 15% discount so i called them up and it applied to buffers too! Well then i will be the first to try out edge and UDM haha ill report back it wont be here for about two weeks... anyone interested in a like new PC haha



i do remember david saying that he was putting the new edge to rigourous test on the UDM when it was still in the testing phase. I could be wrong ill try and dig up the post.
