Does anybody remember the Blackfire "inner wheel scrubber" things?

So i put a gallon of bleach in the back of the car this weekend. And i guess the top wasn't on all the way, cos it got knocked over and i have 3 bleached spots on the back of my seat and 3 on the headliner.:( They aren't big spots at all. But what can i use to cover them. Is there some sort of interior dye i could pick up ?

Bleach attacks natural fibers and can be quite permanent. Hopefully all that happened is some dye loss. Rinse well with water and allow to dry. The bleaching action has already happened, and what's left after a thorough rinsing is what you have to contend with.

I am not experienced with dye application, but I'm sure someone hear can help you out. It may be possible to recover, at least to the casual observer.

Edit: What I meant by the bleach attacking natural fibers was luckily you have damage to synthetic fibers. So the dye loss is the damage (hopefully...)

The dye is gone from the fabric, simple, just ask your mother, she can tell you, "it's bleach that did it, the color is gone!"

Simple, you have no way to put back that which is now gone.

Ketch

You can dye it, right? I know it won't be an exact match but I have seen fabric dying kits around (even at Walmart!) that should be able to lessen the appearance of the bleached spots.

Glad to see you posting again :).

Wellk i know what bleach does. I just thought someone might know where i could get some kind of dye kit other than going to the market and getting the little box of stuff to try and match it.

i would not dye it it would turn into a big mess, only cause dying will need rinsing

here are my votes, but they will take experimentation (depending on where it is and if it's a high traffic area) if you were going to use dye anyways, you wouldn't want dye to rub of on clothing.

- find a marker that matches it, if it's that much of an eyesore get some markers the ones with every color of the spectrum or buy a few artist ones and blend it in.

- colored pencil might work but it'll rub off more

if you really don't want it, you'll really have to experiment, I think

i think the best you can do is cover it up with pigment but again if it's on a place where clothes can get to it, its safer to just leave it.

Thanks steve. It's in a non traffic area(far rear headliner and back of rear headrest) i was thinking i could check out a fabric or craft store and find some sort of fabric marker and try to match it.

Bleach is deadly to carpet. Had that happen in the house with a unproperly screwed on bleach cap. Those dye kits don't match properly. Close but it is still not good enough. When I buy bleach at the store I turn it upside down and shake it a little just to make sure it does not leak. Better to spill bleach on the stores tile than my homes carpet.

I keep plastic shopping and trash bags in my car for a couple of reasons...

-Sick passenger
-Dirty shoes!
-<strong class='bbc'>Any[/b] liquid that goes into my trunk gets a thorough wrapping with a plastic bag!

etc etc :). I also use them for covering up my floormats when it's raining.

All liquids go in a plastic container in my trunk.

Puterbum, my car is nicely equiped with convenient barf bags in behind each front seat, and in the glove box. I've had some people throw up in my car and miss  which is fine, but if you miss and the window is involved (trying to get it out the window) you can't get the vomit out from in between the window and door :D

a friggin wk i couldnt find it....it ricocheted(??) or bounced and....ya know whwre it landed....come n guess....in the passenger side rear seat belt connection...it got wedged in the female part(sounds interesting!!)....it feel out while i was putting on the leather conditioner....BTW

yes i did examine it jut like people do with boogers and all...:up

Well the bleach didn't totally take out the coloring. And the dealer pointed me in the fabric store direction to get the help. Thanks guys. From now on it will go in a heavy garbage bag before it goes in the back.

I purchased one of the Blackfire brushes which attaches to your drill and you use it to clean the inside of your wheels. Does anybody still use these? I don't see them for sale anymore but I wanted to see how you liked them because I want to sell mine because I use the new Lambs wool woolies and the EZ mini detail brush.

The brush I'm talking about is around 14" long and it has blue fibers which look like the fibers you see at the car wash.
