Do you use spray wax as a topper / refresher to existing coat??

Lately I'm starting to reconsider using these...

I wouldn't apply a regular paste wax without doing a full wash/clay/polish... it didn't make sense to put another coat of wax on top of the contaminants. So I'm asking myself why is it okay to top up with a spray wax... same concept, no?

QD, for sure... but an additional coat from a no doubt solvent heavy spray wax? I'm starting to second guess it.

Thoughts?

Maybe it's just me, but I would wax the car in its current condition. Better to wax than not. I have not done this in a long time. I currently use a sealer and a spray wax after washing. I think the paint would benefit from another sealant application (two applied so far). I applied Meg Gold Class quick wax this weekend and it was great! I just used this yesterday, so I still have to evaluate the performance.

Are you talking about applying a spray wax on top of a current coat of wax or spray wax on top of contaminated paint?

between details, I use a spray wax very often as a refresh after washing and don't have any problems. if you are worried about the spray wax ingredients causing a problem with your base coating, try using systems that compliment each other with similar ingredients like blackfire products.

my thoughts exactly...

define what you mean by contaminants?
referring to brake/rail deposits, tar, sap, iron deposits

OR

contaminated as in dirty from normal driving?

I do it to temporarily "boost" the current LSP so I don't have to wash, clay, polish, wax as often.

Your use of the term top up suggests the paint has an LSP on it already. You also stated you would never apply a paste wax without washing, decontaminating & polishing first. So if the wax is on the car and you have done all the prep. Then a month or two later when you decide it needs a top up after washing I would think the paint would still be relatively contaminant free.

People may laugh. But i actually use Turtle Wax Ice Spray Way, and it is damn awesome. I dont really buy much stuff off the shelf. Or i use Eagle One Wax As U Dry, Meguairs Cali Gold Spray Wax. It is really good stuff. The Turtle Wax ice you can get about 5 washes before it leaves. Shines really well, beads a lot.

When i dry my car i spray the microfibre while it is wet with the product and then dry, car comes out looks a million bucks every time...
