Do you guys find that the yellow pads leave swirls?

I am just curious. I was thinking about this last night and almost wonder if the white pad is better? The yellow pad seems like it could leave some scratches since it is so stiff.

Yeah, I think I am going to switch to using the white pads for polishing. I think it is better to let the polish or swirl remover do the work and not the pads.

Yeah, I noticed this as well. Seems almost impossible to prevent it. I dont let my polishes dust, or dry while I am buffing with a yellow pad. I think thats where the marring may come from. Instead I go until almost dry then buff off and inspect.

I have been using the white pads more and more, especially with DACP. I will only go to the yellow pad if its necessary anymore whereas in the past I did most polishing with the yellow. I find the white pad leaves alot glossier surface. My girls civic for example has alot worse defects then my car did. So, I will more than likely go with a yellow pad DACP, to a white pad DACP and then maybe white pad to SSR1.

I would also like to try an orange pad out sometime soon.

I have heard people have hit or miss success with the orange pads, I havent tried them myself, let us know how they work for you.

Sorry man that was a total thread hi-jack.

Yea, I have noticed that the yellow pads are pretty agressive when you first start using them, but after a few uses, they soften up and I really get great results. Rarely do I have to go back with the white... My observation. :nixweiss

Note that a LOT of the pad/product effect is a matter of what paint you have. What works fine on one car (like the Audis) would destroy the paint on another (like the XJS). Makes it sorta hard to generalize beyond the old "use the mildest approach that works for *you*".

But FWIW, I *always* have to follow cutting pads with polishing ones. Sorta surprises me, as I wouldn't have thought the pad itself could cause any marring. Maybe it's the synergy between the pad and even mild products, but that sure seems counterintuitive :nixweiss

Well, here is what I got with the white pad and some SSR2...the pic sucks cause I have not figured out the new camera yet.

The white pads are too darn week for anything expect a garage queen if you ask me.

I have to disagree. Like what was posted earlyer.... I think it has alot to do with your paint. A white pad is all i need to remove swirls and light scratched on my BMW and my car is a daily driver and sits outside 24/7.

Now you all have me worried. I just ordered the orange pad on a vendor's recommendation to work with the Menzernal IP. This is my first time using a PC. Should I be worried? Should I use a white pad for the IP and FP?

Arrgh! Sometimes reading these forums is a pain  , why just this morning I was happily waiting for my order to arrive, now I have reservations.
