If you look at the shadows on the statue, the sun was just barely in front of you. Definitely lens flare, but makes for a good story though.

It's possibly dust. Post it on the board of my previous message. There are people there who study those pics and they will let you know.
 
I'm not sure what I believe in... the possibility surely is there though. I have had some 'weird' experiences that I can't put an explanation to other than just having my mind playing tricks on me.

As for the original picture... that's a mystery to me. I can say that it may be something with the lens (but why isn't it in other pics????). Also, look in the tree about 10 o'clock from the blue, the tree is smeared or cloudy... another orb or just something with the lens???
