Do Terry Applicators Marr?

I was at Walmart a few days ago and notice they were selling terry cloth applicators for only $0.97. I'm curious as to whether terry cloth applicators scratch or marr the surface of a car? Thanks for the replies.

Terry cloth weave won't mar the surface, but that's not what you should be concerned with... what are they made out of? I'd be very wary of such cheap applicators, be sure to properly test them before you use them.

Maybe a CD test? LOL, I'll have people watching me with a weird expression in the store taking the applicator and rubbing it on the CD.

I surely agree with Leo. What are they really made out of? Check out the edges too on those applicators. I wouldn't trust them at all. Maybe a good deal to apply tire dressing but not for paint IMO. I question their microfiber applicators too. Either way, bring a CD with you. I don't think anyone will say anything about it!

Okay. Thanks for the advice. When I rub on the CD, how much pressure should I apply? As much pressure as I would if I was doing polishing/waxing?

If the material will mar you shouldn't have to push super-hard, but yeah, try to simulate polishing/etc. If you don't want to look weird you could always buy one and just use it for non-paint jobs.
