Do people with money neglect their cars more?

Define "people with money." Lots of people spend more than they make in an effort to appear to have money. I'd venture to guess the majority of people with high net worths are pretty respectful of their property.

It depends on the person totally money isn't related to it but ppl with money in theory wouldn't think twice about taking the car to a detail shop or car wash if it needs cleaning.

Many factors at play, Guitarist. What if "we" came to the realization that the people with money are more focused on making money than they are at keeping a car clean. What's more important over the long-haul?

I think you are right. People with money (real money - I'm talking millionaires several times over) who are focused on increasing their wealth probably do not think very much about the overall condition of their cars, status symbols not withstanding. And this applies primarily to the younger rich. Conversely, those multi-millionaires who focus more on preserving their wealth rather than accumulation, probably do care more about the condition of their cars and everything else they own for that matter. Most who fall in this category would most likely be old money. In the end it is all a state of mind which depends to a large part on personal values, experience and maturity, regardless the dollar signs involved.

yeah, that sounds reasonable. And when you factor in the majority of these cars are leased, the need to keep it "perfect" quickly fades.

Looking some of these posts, it makes me glad i'm not rich actually. I come from a family that is, but with this economy, property and other things have dropped. If you can't sell what you own, you're just land poor. Besides that, i'm not the kind of person who wants things handed to him. Aside from having plenty of money to make sure my unborn son, Gabriel (who is now 5 months in the womb) always will be ok, but having a lot of money seems to make people not focus on really enjoying what they have. My WRX was 24k and some change and I love my car. A dent in my car would be more than a huge deal to me, but if I had a lot of money in the bank I might feel like I have enough money, I can just sell it and buy the same thing or something better sort of just an oh well sort of attitude. My intention is not to down people with money, but it takes a lot of responsibility IMO to handle money and the things that come along with it.

Depends on the person and how the car is used. For instance I am far from wealthy but have a decent job and drive a Nissan GT-R which was a 80K+ car new. It's my daily driver so if it rains etc it may be dirty/filthy for a week or two but I do make sure it is polished and protected with sealant/wax and I keep the interior clean etc. Some people might see my filthy car going down the road and think I'm some rich kid(almost 30 but look young) that was handed the car but I'm not.
