I've decided to order ALL my accessories for my new car mail order and install them myself. I figure I can't lose...has anybody else done this?



Obviously it will take some time to do...which is one disadvantage. But even with shipping I will save tons of money from dealer markup and labor, and I will pay cash for this stuff so I'm not paying interest on it if it has been put in the car loan.



Check this out...for a honda accord decklid spoiler I can get it for $259 with shipping. Dealer 1 wanted $344, dealer 2 wanted $450, and dealer 3 wanted $636!
 
DO you mean OEM accessories the manufactirer would install......



IF so I do beleive you will pay a whole bunch more for the parts then they would having them installed at factory..
 
No this is stuff the dealer installs like spoiler, cargo net, wheel locks, premium mats, etc. It's all genuine honda accessories but its not installed at the factory.
 
I did that for my WRX. I bought the cargo mat, cargo net, armrest, and other stuff from an online vendor saving hundreds. I actually would have done more, but the car I ended up buying had many of the items already on it.
 
Ugh it seems Honda's instructions are all in metric, even though the car is made in America. It took me a while but I finally found some metric drill bits...but the metric hole saws apparently only exist in Japan...
 
Did you try Canada? We are all metric up here. If it's not available, then all of Europe is metric I think, except England.
 
I did try a few but they were all carrying american english stuff...maybe I just didn't find the right ones. Do you know any good canadian hardware retailers online?
 
Want to hear something weird? Everything on my 88 Ford is metric - did a water pump recently and not a single bolt (even the hose clamps!) was SAE.

Yeah, I had an '86 Plymouth Horizon (It's all right, you don't have to feel sorry for me) that was half and half. I read an article about it in an old Motor Trend that said Chrysler was trying to convert to metric. Wouldn't it have been better if they did it all at once? :rolleyes:
