Do microfiber towels scratch?

it's just that some microfiber towels are so poorly made that if you wipe it over a cd (i'm talking no rubbing) you will see obvious scratch marks simply by what the yarn is made of. granted CD's are nowhere nearly as hard as car paint, but do you really want a towel that scratches CD's that easily. Towels that bad do exist. Buyer beware.

I've never had a high quality mf towel scratch my car before. Wayne's Towels and PakShak and AutoGeek are my favorite vendors with Pak in the lead.



I have used some work/lower quality mf on my paint before and had some light micro-marring, but cotton towels have been much more problematic for me.
 
One thing no one mentioned in this thread that may seem kind of obvious to some of us is . . . make sure to remove the tag. Some towels come with a tag that shows the fiber content of the towel or the care instructions. This tag will scratch the #%@& out of your paint if you leave it on.

If it passes the CD test it's an almost sure thing it won't scratch paint. I have yet to find one that has passed the CD test though.

I just tried the CD test, lots of different pressures, soft to very hard. I could not get my MF's to scratch a CD.

Pretty sure I didn't buy the BEST one's from Pep Boys.
 
anything u place against your paint has the ability to scratch. No matter how careful you are, at some point, it happens.
