well that's not exactly my question. my question is this: i have klasse twins, p21s paint cleanser, blitz, and p21s (s100) wax. i'm planning on getting some SMR.... do i really have the products that would make a PC useful? like blitz would be hard with a pc. is it worth 100+ plus.

question 2: where can i get quality pads for PC if i do get it locally? i mean, if i get the PC i'll prob get it in a store locally, and dont want to wait for the pads ordering online. so where ot get them in what stores.

question 3: when applying waxes, etc with PC i jsut buff it in til its almost gone then final wipe with something right?

thanks

You can use the 3M SMR, Klasse All In One and Klasse Glaze with the buffer. Is it worth 100.00 plus the cost of the pads.... If you detail your car often and are often left with alot to do at the end of the day I would say go out and buy one. If you detail here and there and get everything done in a day I would not buy one.

Orbital buffers are "mainly" for convenience and time savings. If that is worth the money to you, get it. It won't create miracle finishes or get out deep scratches like a hi-speed polisher will.

Buffing pads are available at all pro auto paint suppliers. Check the local Yellow Pages.

Stop buffing befor the wax dries. If it dries you increase the chance of causing swirls.

thanks guys. i'll look into some prices... i heard that smr was a PITA to apply/remove by hand? haha, i'm a relative novice when it comes to detailing. in like 2 weeks i'm going to try my first "restoration" type project. my dad's daily driver (91 protege) which doesnt get cared for at all, hasnt seen wax in close to 6 years.... barely gets washed. the interior might be too late, but the exterior could be salvaged a bit. and if i DO get the PC it'll give me a test car to practice on. thanks again.

Or you could do it all by hand like I did the first year. Of course you wind up with arms that look like Popeye! Enjoy!

I can't imagine getting good results with 3M SMR in a reasonable amount of time <span class='bbc_underline'>without a PC. Even with one, my Miata (not a lot of panel area there, fellas) took about 2 hours to do. And AIO by PC rules.

Plus, now that you have all that stuff you'll find other cars to do :) I've got mine, my gf's, my partner Robbin's BMW, my roomate's new (used) 911, his Golf, etc...

$0.02,
Robert
